Education freedom is essential for students while choosing courses

Greetings everyone, it's been quite a while since I embarked on this blogging journey. Today, I'm eager to delve into the crucial topic of choosing higher education courses and why it matters.

In South India, particularly in Tamil Nadu, there are four major course options available after completing grade 10:

Accounts and Commerce
Biology and Mathematics
Computer Science and Mathematics
Business Mathematics

The choices we make after 10th grade 10 lay the foundation for our future studies. However, many students, including myself, may lack the maturity and knowledge needed to make informed decisions about course selection. It's crucial to note that mathematics is a core subject in every course option, emphasizing its importance in everyone's life. This scenario underscores the vital role mathematics plays in shaping our academic paths and overall life trajectories.

In the educational landscape, schools play a crucial role in guiding students towards suitable course selections based on their understanding and IQ levels. However, some schools may restrict students from choosing certain groups, such as the biology group, due to the heavy content involved. This can pose challenges for students who may have a genuine interest in these subjects but didn't achieve high scores in grade 10. Such circumstances could potentially hinder students from pursuing their desired academic paths and may lead to feelings of failure. Fortunately, with a strong grade 10 score like mine (89%), I was able to choose my group without any hesitation or interference from the school's side.

It's a common misconception among parents that commerce is an easier subject compared to others. However, delving into commerce involves studying entirely new subjects, unlike groups like biology or computer science, which build upon foundational knowledge acquired in lower classes. While science subjects like botany and zoology form the backbone of the biology group, and computer science is a fundamental subject for all students, commerce introduces a range of new subjects without prior familiarity, posing its own set of challenges.

In Tamil Nadu, students must select their groups during grades 11 and 12. The public examinations in the final year of grade 12, conducted by the government, play a crucial role in this process. The results of these examinations determine college admissions, empowering students to choose courses based on their performance. After diligent studying, I achieved an impressive 85% in grade 12, granting me the opportunity to pursue the courses I was genuinely passionate about.

Choosing the right college degree is a pivotal decision that can shape your entire future. Your choice determines your placement in a company, which can significantly impact your financial stability and skill development. In today's job market, many students are drawn to computer science engineering due to its abundant job opportunities. Compared to fields like civil engineering, where physical labor and site visits are often required for manual analysis, computer engineering seems more straightforward, with the ability to code from a single location. Despite my inclination towards computer science engineering, my parents steered me towards mechanical or civil engineering courses. Respecting their wishes, I opted for mechanical engineering as my major.

It's understandable to feel disappointed with your current job situation, especially after realizing that the role may not offer the growth opportunities you were hoping for. Reflecting on your decision to pursue mechanical engineering instead of computer science engineering, it's natural to wonder about alternative outcomes. However, it's essential to remember that hindsight is always clearer than foresight, and decisions are made with the information available at the time. While it's tempting to dwell on what could have been, it's important to focus on moving forward and exploring other avenues for career growth and fulfillment. Your degree and experience still hold value, and there may be opportunities for professional development in unexpected places. Keep an open mind and remain proactive in seeking out new possibilities.

Absolutely, you're absolutely right. Despite the course you majored in, it's never too late to pursue your passions and develop the skills you're truly interested in. With the plethora of resources available online, such as YouTube tutorials and various other internet sources, the opportunity to learn and grow is limitless. I commend you for taking the initiative to enroll in courses and study computer coding languages, aligning with your interests. In today's modern world, the possibilities are endless, and with dedication and perseverance, anything is achievable. And let's leave the bomb-making to the movies for some light-hearted fun! 😊

In today's competitive world, complexity and perfection are the norms, with AI software playing a significant role in aiding humanity across various domains. Tools like ChatGPT and Devlin are revolutionizing the field of software engineering by simplifying coding tasks and providing tailored solutions based on user requirements. Even individuals with zero coding knowledge, like myself, can grasp basic concepts through explanations provided by AI like ChatGPT.

Developers and coders leverage AI software to seek answers and gain insights, thereby enhancing their problem-solving capabilities. Moreover, these AI solutions cater to a wide range of users, not just developers, making them invaluable assets in various contexts.

In conclusion, it's imperative to embrace modern technology and stay updated with the latest advancements. By adopting a smart work approach over traditional hard work, individuals can navigate the complexities of the modern world more efficiently.

Right, parents shouldn't force child to oppress in education.
That's a shame.

Well said 😁. It was a good lifetime experience.

I wouldn't be able to relate fully since your country has a different educational structure compared to mine but I have always been against the issue of parents dictating the course a child should study. They might have more experience as adults but they can't fully grasp the capabilities of a child and how lack of passion for a course could result to low academic performance.

Truthfully the advent of AI technology has definitely provided avenue for those who were not able to study courses of their choice, they now have the privilege of enrolling in online courses.

Thanks for your time to read the blog. What you said is 100% correct. Parents should not pressurize the child. And totally agree with getting knowledge on online courses is very helpful as they join with eager to learn.
