Where You Learn Doesn’t Decide Who You Become

In life I have seen many friends of mine complaining and believing that if they had gone to an different university or college then they could have shape their future entirely in a better way. They feel life would have turned out better and they could get more opportunities, or even a better job.

Well, I will be honest about this topic because I disagree with this idea and I never felt like that. Even though universities play an important role in our life and I believe that the position we have got in life is because of our personal growth and for example that can be our attitude or our determination or the path we choose to follow than on the institution we attend.

In bangladesh people thinks success is defined by a university’s name or by the reputation of an university, but that's not true at all. Many students from not very known or small universities has gotten successful in their life because they had confidence and did enough hard work to gain success by their own. But if you notice some students from the well known universities struggles more because they do not focus on improving themselves rather depends on the reputation of their university.

There are many students even after graduating from a famous university they could not get a job, they become jobless. In my opinion university/college/school names does not matter at all the only thing matters is the person who gives meaning to their education. I am sure if a person is dedicated enough and interested in studying and open to developing, they can find success anywhere.

The personal growth is necessary for a person to be successful and that also depends on experiences, not the locations. Every university has the same subject you want to study and they provide the same opportunities to learn, connect, and grow. But one thing they do not teach us that is the lessons about responsibility and independence, how to get a job or start your own business. These are the things you gotta learn by yourself.

Even I had the chance to change my institution the details might different of the building, teachers using different kind of teaching methods, and different classmates but still the lessons would have been the same. The place I am today is because I have found the opportunities by myself and it helped me to grow, so it doesn't matter where we study.

I know in university the people we meet they influences our lives, but I believe we only get to know the people we are meant to meet. If I hadn’t met my friends that I have now then in a different university, I might have met other people with similar values and goals. The idea that people will shape my life is something that I don't believe, I do not let others influence my goals if I have decided something it's completely my own. I do get inspired from different people, that doesn't mean I have to follow the way they lead their life, we are meant to constantly meet new people and this process would continue in any environment.

Lastly, I am 51 years old now and I have made mistakes in the past but I don't have any regrets, because my mistakes has made me the person I am today and the position I'm holding today is only because of these previous choices in my life. I think this journey is very valuable, if I had followed someone else's choice then I could never done it. I believe life is leading us where we are meant to be. Well, my way of thinking will never change because I believe even I had gone to a different university, I would have found my way again and it might not be the same but still with the same personal growth and lessons learned.

So, I do not agree with the idea that going to a different university would have completely changed my life. My whole story does not collide with the life as a student and the University I attended because it was only a small chapter of my journey.

Different friends or maybe different life if we didn't study hard. So, our future is in our hand.

I agree with you , different university or poly doesn't make a difference, what make a difference is how we lives out life in that school.

Yeah, it totally depends on us the choices we make. If someone studies hard they will succeed anyway.

I very well agree to this....
Success does have everything to do with a person's effort and determination and has very little or nothing to do with the name of ones higher institution.
