Art is basically a form of expression; it is how a person brings to light their creative imagination, expressing their emotions and the way they feel at a particular period of time. This art is mostly in the form of paintings and sculpture, it always gives a person a feeling since the artist only expresses how they feel at a particular time, it could be their feeling about a place or a situation, or a repressed emotion.
I have often wondered why there used to be a lot of value attached to some arts. I have seen in movies how an artist gets to sell an artwork for hundreds to millions of dollars, and I wonder why that is. I later learnt that some of these arts are that expensive because of the sentimental value attached to them. Although the materials used to make this art are also expensive, the time, skill and popularity of the artist are also put into consideration to make it so costly. Bad art and good art; to me, as a person who hasn’t really had a kill for art, not that I don’t find them beautiful, I do like the beauty of art, especially those that represent some statue or have a symbolic meaning. I don’t find art to be good or bad. Yes, art expresses ideas to people, some arts also influence people, but to categorise art to be good or bad is out of the question.

The artist usually takes their time to create this beautiful piece, being that they are normally inspired by ideas before they get to work, it sometimes takes time to have the work done for some. People always have different tastes in different things; what Mr A will love is sometimes different from what Mr B will want. Just as it is with the creativity of music, we have different genres of music, some prefer Pop music, others Hip hop, others Rap, others R&B and so on and so forth, but a person with a good ear for music appreciate music, be it whatever genre the music is.
An art that speaks well to you may be appreciated well by you than an art that doesn’t speak well to you. The value that an American will give to the American Gothic, for instance, will be far different from the value which he gives to the Mona Lisa due to sentiment and the sense of belonging; the same may also go vice versa. One who loves art will appreciate every work of art, giving their respect to the efforts and skills the artist has invested in it and will better appreciate it when they understand the meaning or what the art represents. One art could be better expressed than the other, as a result that the skill of the artist is measured differently, and the message they are sharing might be deeper than the other. I still believe that all art is good art; it is an expression of one's creativity and unique expression.
