One's place of residence plays an important role into what the person ends up being in life, it affects literally both your decision and how you see challenges in life differently because no one can dispute the fact that environment indeed is a major determinant in our lives.
Most persons migrate from the rural area to the urban area majorly because of income not even security because no where in Nigeria is currently safe, however, taking out the equation of income and security, the place I would want to live will boil down to what kind of life I want to experience, whether it is the fast-paced lifestyle of the cities or the calm and serenity that comes with the rural habitation.
The Urban areas are hubs of information, innovation and opportunity. Information is very vital and the urban area is a place to get these networking very easily. This is because everyone is entirely into different productive things that you might not have heard before unlike the rural area where the job is a bit streamlined to mostly mechanical jobs.
Everything seems to be within reach in the urban areas ranging from healthcare down to endless employment opportunities.
That notwithstanding, cities also have their own downsides which majorly is the noise pollution that comes with living in them ranging from overpopulation down to environmental pollution. These sometimes denies one the inner peace to think and might get lost in the crowd.
Rural areas also come with their own perks especially in the aspects of the therapy that living close to nature offers. Rural areas gives you the environment where offers you more of living rather than surviving dwells in, rather than the constant pursuit of one goal or another, it offers you an atmosphere of reflection.
Even if I would love to enjoy the beautiful perks of rural areas, there are factors which won't permit me do so.
The realization that comfort and peace are beautiful, but they do not replace the realities of professional growth, access to essential services, and the need to build a stable future is one of the most deciding factor.
As someone who is still starting my career, obviously, Urban areas offers me the networking I will need to survive.
Also, there is a popular mockery statement, "Village Champion" and this spans from isolation. Rural areas sometimes offers you this imaginary limitations because when you look around you, everyone is basically doing the same thing and might be earning roughly the same thing and you will think that everything is well without knowing that you are lower down the radar but just can't see it because of your location.
In summary, if given the freedom of choice without concerns about income or safety, I would choose the rural life. Above all, it aligns with my mental well-being and values rooted in peace and serenity but for now, realities will always make me go for urban environments.
Thanks for reading and have a nice day ahead 👍
