today I will share some portraits of liberica coffee that I have capture in one of the gardens belonging to the @idayrus family about two days ago, this coffee is a type of coffee that is very different from Arabica & robusta coffee, and coffee is also a rare coffee in the agricultural environment of Aceh.
The main difference between Liberica and Arabica is in the height of the stem and fruit size, if Arabica has a stem height of 2 meters at the highest while Liberica has a stem height of 7 meters or more, apart from that the size of the fruit is also very much different when compared to other coffees. Liberica coffee has long large fruit while Arabica has round fruit shape.
I wonder why Liberica coffee is not the main choice for farmers to cultivate it? After I searched, I finally found the answer that this type of coffee tastes very bitter, the taste is very few enthusiasts, meaning that the farmers' crops will be difficult to market, so I assume that it is one of the reasons why farmers do not dominate liberica as their mainstay coffee plant.
Liberica coffee is a type of coffee originating from Liberia and West Africa. This coffee can grow as high as 9 meters from the ground. In the 19th century, this type of coffee was imported to Indonesia to replace Arabica coffee which was attacked by pests. Wikipedia
