For a democratic society, information should be accessible to every citizen of the society. Sadly, democracy is becoming myth in my relative society where one institution is backlashing the other prominent institution. The fire between military and the political parties is not getting slow. Amidst all this hot environment, information and misinformation is floating smoothly in the society. With the help of narratives and popular narratives, the people are being manipulated.
Yesterday, i was listening to speech of Inter-services public relations director general ( DG-ISPR) Lt. Ahmad Sharif. In his speech, he was giving briefing about latest Counterterrorism operation. He briefed that people are getting it wrong that it will not be an military operation, yet it will be an campaign against terror and it's part of war on terror. In his speech, he blamed on certain lobby of political party to spread this popular narrative among people of the nation.
At first, i thought he is right or might be he is right. Next morning, i perused newspaper on which i read that name changing will not changing the real meaning of it. That news article further cleared one thing in my mind that public is already very much aware and there is no need to fill there mind anymore. Clearly, everyone knows what's their agenda behind these speeches. Everyone is just paying lip service to people and there is no ground work.

Every side is giving it's own narrative which is countering the other narratives. Information runs in the society in the form of narrative. Surprisingly, it's the dominanting class who decides that which narrative will dominate the society because they control the information. There are many ways to control the information for example local government banned "X Platform" and reduced the power of digital media. On the other hand, they forgot that it's time of social media which is accessible to every citizen. On social media, information spreads like fire in the jungle and reality proves itself. It's surprising that local government is even controlling these platforms but they cannot suppress the voices and narratives which are being nourished in the lap of supression.
Information is the second name of knowledge and when the knowledge will be provided to people then they will question the authority. Moreover, Questioning is the symbol of democracy in the society as it gives space to improve. Questioning shakes the pillar of political leaders and they get to know that their society learned about democracy and they have to be democratic leaders now.
Actually, these political leaders just want to take as much profit as they can. That's why they don't want their people to be learned people as they are afraid of their accountability and questioning.
In conclusion, Information is directly linked with democractic society. Transparent information is the right of every citizen of the society. This transparency gives rights to everyone and it's part of progressed societies. Those societies and people who can not question their leaders, they are failed states and societies.

Very well said that is why in developed countries more people speak out against societal issues and usually they are taken seriously by the government so progress is automatically made.
