I see it in a similar way, traditional school is basically for having basic education on how the world was designed to function. Self education is probably the upside one can get to understand and navigate this world better or in a way that they can think for themselves and make their own decisions as opposed to being influenced directly by society.

School always teaches the basics, that's true, so we must seek out this information, study, and everything else for ourselves. I completely agree with you. There's a saying that goes: it's the student who makes the school, not the school itself, so students need to work hard to achieve something better.
