Now we'll go to the VI cent BC and see an ancient settlement Myrmekion.
The name of the settlement is known from Greek sources, but scientists still cannot understand where it came from. “Myrmik” in Greek is an ant, but the place does not look like an anthill at all.
Myrmekion was founded by the Ionian Greeks in the 6th century BC, during the era of the so-called Great Greek colonization.
At first it was a small village, which had a defensive wall around the rock. It was used as an acropolis.
Now this place is protected by the state and cery popular among tourists.
It's absolutely free for visitors, and there are no museum rules and official atmosphere, that's why it is so unique and special.
Myrmekion is a popular open air historical museum that is full of ancient legends and mysterious. We can't know and open them all, but we can feel their soul looking at this magical place....
The place around this ancient settlement is one more nature gift, and it's great pleasure not only to stare at old stones but also to walk around and enjoy natural beauty.
And one more bonus of this place is its silent and freedom.
There are very few people there, and you can be united with nature and history in harmony and calmness.
