Addiction: When a Mere Choice Leads to a Widespread Disease.

in Hive Learners22 hours ago

Addiction imprisons the mind of many young people in our society today, it have caused numerous damages especially among young people ,ruined lives , family and connections.
Addiction starts from a choice , it becomes an habit, then you find yourself totally dependent and becoming a slave to a deadly/harmful behavior, it could be a abuse of drugs , gambling, alcohol, sex, gaming and many more.
Addiction makes one a slave to an habit even when, the consequences is obvious, and even when addicts want to change and turn a new leaf, they are caged physically and mentally.
It makes them a slave to an habit that is harmful to your mental and physical health.

Addiction is first a choice, it starts with a deliberate and conscious decisions to take a substance, it usually starts with curiosity, just like satisfying a casual thought to have a taste of something new and when that curiosity is being fed, then the push to constantly do it over and over again, makes it a disease, that keeps spreading.
A choice made at the initial stage can ruin someone's life , at that initial stage they can easily press the stop button, but they decided to keep doing it , untill it became habitual, and they become extremely dependent to it and become a submissive slave to it, have no control over the consumption and at this point could be regarded as a disease, because it keeps eating one up it, ruining ones life and causing severe damages to their life.
So, addiction is a choice and a disease too, the beginning of every habit, started with a choice.

Addiction destroys the mind and brain, it makes one sees a deadly habit as a God , and would always succumb to the urge to indulge in this harmful act regardless of the consequences, even when others try to stop them , they just want to continue and see those trying to stop them as enemies.
Addiction is destructive, just like disease, it rewires their brain , changes their priority and affects their decisions .

Addicts are seperated from reality, their life revolves around what they are addicted too, I have seen two different people dealt with addiction, one was drug and the other was gambling, these is what matters to them the most.
A gambler will always have the mindset that he would be a billionaire from gambling with every Penny, he never agrees or sees it as financial illetracy and foolishness.
They could go starving, use the last penny and even if they fail, they still believe in gambling, that show how deadly gambling habit could be to the mind and physical well-being.
While drugs, which is more predominant and even deadly and destructive, that's one addiction that scares me the most, it's a disease that startes with curiosity, then a choice was made and like disease! spreads and affects everything about their life, decisions, relationship and everyone around them.
Addiction is really deadly, although it's being caused by certain emotions, but there are better ways to feel better, and handle emotions, addiction is deadly.

Quitting addiction is not an easy journey , every addict needs support, and lastly, they need to believe they can stop it, they can overcome and liberate themselves from the shackles addiction .

Seriously addiction is hard to leave most especially when there's no help or love from someone close to assist them and remind them of their decisions whenever they're about to fallout

Indeed, addiction begins as a choice then it takes control of the mind and body, then it becomes a disease. But I'm still of the opinion that it will always remain a choice because it is only when a person believe they still have the choice to quit only then can they overcome their addiction. Overcoming addiction is a personal conviction.

Mist people become addicted through peer pressure by the time the will realized it. It's already late

I do agree with your submission. Addiction starts with a choice, and to end it, choice must also be made. But while we discuss issues like this one, it's important for us to have some empathy for the addicted people because their situation alone proves that they need help but are struggling to get that help to quit.

I hope everyone with an addiction finds strength to quit. And I hope those who aren't addicted remain disciplined till the end. Thanks for sharing your POV.
