Human behavioral pattern is learnt and also inherited, it's important to note that children no nothing at birth, they have a blank memory and have no knowledge, they only learn and acquire by observing the people around them, they learn from experiences, learn by watching and observations.
For instance, language is learnt, habits are learnt , but emotions are learnt and also inherited .
There are certain behaviors that can also be traced to genetic, behaviors that were inherited from any of the parent.
For example, how a particular child sleeps, intelligence , how they control their emotions or even react could be very similar to how one of the parents do these things.
Kids grow up to learn from their environment, people around them and observations too, I can vividly remember when I was nursing my sisters child, who was less than a year, I was always fond of blinking my eyes each time we play and he reciprocated and we kept playing like that, he learnt by observation and mimicked me because we spent more time together.
I agree to the notion that kids who grow up to be good adults learnt to behave good from their environments and parents, the environment and people around a kid play a huge role to the development of the child, into an adult, gene also play an important role too, kids learn and mimick from childhood to a certain stage, when they now have a mind of their own and these knowledge learnt from childhood shapes them to be better adults.
The way kids are nurtured, cared for and disciplined really shapes them , this is ways parents interact and build their behaviors, the way you also interact with them also builds their emotions, teaches to control their emotions too.
Just like raising a child in so much love, they grow to express love to others, but when raised in a hostile environment, they spread hostility.
The way you raise a child, determine their behavior as adults, it shapes them.
Also the environment they grow is an important factor, environment plays an important role, because kids learn from their environment, the people they interact with the society, the kind of friends they keep too, that's how they get influenced.
During the learning stage of a child, they mimick , children learn from what they see, that's why you would see a child comes back home from school to Mimick their teacher , they would watch a specific cartoon and want to behave like the hero or main character in the movie.
That's because children learn from what they see, and such character develop with them untill they become adults.
What kids learn by seeing, stay in their brain longer , a child learning process starts with pictures, and pictures last longer in the brain , so they learn more from what they see and it shapes them as adults too.
I have seen kids, who where raised by good parents turn out to be bad adults, especially from the church I grew attending and this is as a result of influence, we really can't neglect the fact that societal and friends pressure/ influence can be really strong, especially in teenagers and young adults, the changes could be due to peer pressure.
This is where discipline and love have to be applied, even when they go astray, they can easily find their root and turn back to be good, like their parents.
They are many factors that really determines the kind of adults kids grow up to be, these includes family , parenting pattern, to the environment they find themselves, and the friends they associate with, gene is also an important factor.

As a parent making the effort to train your children well is one of the best decisions one will ever make. Children learn from their parents and environment, although at a point they choose what they want but I believe that if we live the foundation well, it will be an advantage to them.
