On this week's episode of hive learners community prompt, I'll he responding to question: What are your thoughts on content monetisation? We've seen how it has pushed so many people to make even the most extreme content just to get more money. Has this made many of us more lazy to pursue actual work? At this point, is just any content worth being paid for?
Monetization is when someone is being paid for something.
Content monetization is paying people for what they post online, be it art, skits, useful writing and so on. This is a good thing because it helps creative people get paid for their talent. Just as much as it's good, it has also created problems, where people will do anything just to get paid.
Some play dangerous pranks on strangers, some post private or very dangerous things just to get likes, followers and money. Yes, those types of contents will definitely get attention but it does not add value to anyone.
People have seen that making content can bring fast money, they have lost interest in traditional work. Some people do not want to go to school or even learn a skill, they just want to be popular online. Being popular is not a bad thing, but some people will want to be popular at all means. Without thinking of what they post or the usefulness of the post.
There is a family I recently started viewing their contents, the woman makes me laugh, with the way she does her eyes to how she makes her mouth and with all seriousness makes up different things, that you will be wondering how she came up with such thing, but it makes me laugh. Also another content I love viewing is one made by audraycraft, the lady is so creative and uses waste or discarded material to make something very beautiful. These are just some of the creative and useful contents online, we still have a lot.
- should all contents be monetized?
The simple answer is no. Not all contents should be monetized, when all contents are being monetized, people will not want to be creative they will just post anything they think will get viewers and also get them paid. Contents that are useful, creative, entertaining, useful DIY should be monetized. But those contents that promote lies, hate or violence should not be monetized.
Monetisation should reward talent, effort, and good intentions not noise, lies, or bad behavior. If anything and everything is being monetized then we are encouraging people to do anything even if it's wrong to get attention.
Content monetization is not a bad thing, it has helped many people live better lives through their talents. But we must be careful of what we like, support views, and money. Only meaningful, creative and respectful contents should be paid for. We also need to remember that real work still matters, not everyone can be a content creator and that's definitely okay. We should not allow fast money make us forget the value or importance of real, honest, hardwork.
