Being addicted to gambling is bad, my brother used to be an addict, and he would sell everything he had to place that bet, even if he lost he wouldn't mind he would continue.
Then all of a sudden he stopped gambling I think it's probably because he has responsibilities now like a child.
Maybe something as big as a child can get you to think straight and stop gambling but what about those people without kids who also suffer from the same addiction, what can they do to stop.. That's the problem we need solution to.
