RC (RESOURCE CREDIT)

in Hive Learners18 days ago

For some days now i have not posted, reason been that my RC (RESOURCE CREDITS), is so low.I know that i should not worry since it would boost up on its own after some time or i decide to power up to increase my RC.But i choose the former.

I decided to talked about RESOURCE CREDITS especially for new users.

Resource Credits (RC) are a unique feature of the Hive blockchain designed to manage network usage without traditional transaction fees (like Ethereum's gas).Instead of paying per action, you spend RC, which acts like a bandwidth or mana system to prevent spam and overload while keeping the network free and accessible.

What Are Resource Credits?
Purpose: Every action on Hive (e.g., posting, commenting, voting, transferring tokens, blogging, curating,or even creating an account) consumes a small amount of RC. This ensures fair usage and promotes community growth by tying it to stake (HP).

How They're Generated: RC is non-transferable and accrues to your account based on your Hive Power (HP) holdings, the more HP, the more RC you get. It's like a stockpile that the blockchain allocates.

Regeneration: RC regenerates automatically over time. Specifically, 20% of your max RC renews every 24 hours, reaching full capacity in about 5 days. This means even if you use it up, it replenishes without cost. That was why i was not scared when i totally used up mine own.

Free RC for New Users
New accounts start with limited or zero HP, so Hive provides initial free RC to cover early transactions and help onboard users. This often comes via:
peakd.com

Temporary Delegations: When signing up through community portals (e.g., hive.blog, Ecency, or PeakD), you may receive a small delegation of HP (e.g,15 HP) from the system or sponsors, which generates enough RC for basic actions like your first posts or votes.

Account Creation Tokens (ACT): Accounts can be created using RC from an existing user, and some services offer free or discounted sign-ups that include starter RC.
This free aspect lowers the barrier to entry,no need to buy HIVE right away to interact. You can post, engage, and earn rewards to build up your own HP organically.

Getting More RC If Needed

Power Up HIVE: Convert your HIVE to HP to increase your RC pool permanently.

Receive Delegations: Other users can delegate
HP to you (via Keychain), boosting your RC without transferring ownership. This is common in communities for supporting newbies—it's reversible and a great way to get started.@peakd.com

Monitor Usage: Use tools like PeakD or Hive Keychain to check your RC levels (shown as a percentage). If low, wait for regeneration or seek delegations.

Advanced Tip: For heavy users, joining curation trails or communities can lead to mutual delegations, amplifying RC and rewards.

In essence, this setup makes Hive user-friendly for beginners: Buy a little HIVE on an exchange, transfer it in, convert strategically, and leverage free initial RC to dive in without upfront costs for transactions. If you run into RC limits early on, communities on Hive are often helpful with delegations—just ask! For the most current exchange listings or RC details, check hive.io or developers.hive.io

Do have a nice day.
