Yes, when you swim in the sea, you have to face the fact that you share that water with many, many marine creatures. Those that you can see, that live closer to the surface, and those that live in deep water, and you may never meet - if you are lucky!
Now, jellyfish are not always hidden in the deep sea. Very often, we share our swimming routes with them even though we are not aware of it. Until the moment when our arms or legs touch and we feel that encounter very quickly on our skin.
Literally.
Oh, but the summer atmosphere shouldn't be ruined by that. If you experience a jellyfish sting, don't despair; there are a few easy steps you can follow to treat it by yourself, of course, in case it wasn't an encounter with a very venomous jellyfish that can finish... not in the best way for the human.

The first thing if it happens that you experience a jellyfish sting is that you should not panic. You will feel it immediately, yes, but if it is possible, stay calm and swim to the shore. If you stay in deep water, there are more chances you will get more stings. Once outside of the water, or in a very shallow area of the sea, you can check if there are parts of the tentacles on your skin. You should remove them, but don't rub the affected area. And don't rinse it with fresh water, it would worsen the situation. The salty seawater is more than good.

These were the things I did this morning, after I felt the sting of a jellyfish on my leg. I swam back, removed the tiny greyish part of the tentacle, stayed in the water, very close to the seashore for a while and actually, the seawater calmed down the pain. I was fine as it was just a mild sting, but to entertain myself and completely forget about this event, I collected a bunch of seashells!

So many that I could write with them in the sand!
I hope you will agree with me that the seashells have nice handwriting. 😂

I also entertained myself by taking these few photos of the HIVE word, chitchatting with my husband, selecting just a few seashells that I would take home (no, I don't want to take all of them as I already have more than enough for a big collection haha) and writing a letter to Mrs. Jellyfish.

Dear Mrs. Jellyfish,
May I ask why you touched me with your tentacles today? Was it a premeditated act, well-planned and with the aim of hurting me? Or did it happen by accident, while you, dear Mrs. Jellyfish, were going to work on this beautiful, sunny morning? I mean, I have nothing against you showing off your beauty and elegance; on the contrary, you are very beautiful, and you dance in the water with grace, but couldn't it have stayed there, at eye contact? Well, I understand, maybe you just didn't realise that the venom from your tentacles can hurt people; so I will take this opportunity to ask you for this favour, please avoid close encounters with people while they are enjoying their summer vibes, of course, if they respect the sea, your habitat! Thank you!

Yikes !
I had a sting when I was a child, but in the end I thought I got it from the sand. There had been a jelly fish washed up on the sand and although we knew better than to touch it, we hovered around looking at it. After, I had a place that burned quite badly for a while. I had to wonder if part of it's tentacles were in some of the sand near it unseen.
Sorry you had the experience, but you sound like you knew exactly what to do and stayed quite calm.

Thank you !
My husband already had some encounters with them, so I had experience in that way hahaha.
It is true, it could be that you got that from the sand, not directly touching the jellyfish. Some years, when there are many of them (usually in autumn), more adventurous children "catch" them with nets. Well, I would stay away from that game 😅
"Dear @mipiano,
carried by the sea current, next to Mr. Jellyfish, our two little baby Jellyfish, and Grandpa Jellyfish, we were stranded in shallow water, when your giant leg came towards us.
Mr. Jellyfish and I quickly got the baby Jellyfish to safety, but Grandpa Jellyfish, very slow and indecisive, got hooked on your leg.
One branch of grandfather's tentacles stuck to your leg and you ran away from us very quickly, leaving no time for us to get to know each other better and for Grandfather Jellyfish to apologize for the inconvenience.
I'm sorry you hooked his tentacles, but I'm still glad it was us, the family of white Jellyfish, and not a group of our dangerous cousins in brown, purple or dark blue.
In the future, we will try not to give in completely to the sea currents that push us to the shore, but you, too, in the future, pay attention to whether there are any of our relatives in the part of the sea where you swim, so that they don't accidentally irradiate you.
Give our regards to your gentleman and ask him to pay attention when entering the water.
Best regards and I hope we don't see each other again,
Your Mrs. Jellyfish."
Dear Mrs. Jellyfish,
Thank you very much for your explanation and thanks to @duskobgd who delivered your message to us. Now I have it clear, it was Grandpa Jelly who was not so quick as you and your family, of course, I understand you would have to protect your children, and you did it well. As I said, it is your home; we humans are just guests in the sea and we also have to take care. After being so kind as to leave this letter to us, I am a bit sorry that your wish is also not to see each other again. 😂 But I do hope not to meet those dangerous cousins of yours that you mentioned.
All the best to you and your family,
Mipiano. 👋
Dear @mipiano , even if you don't put any photo, it would be brilliant because of your special talent, which is witty writing. Great post as always...uh yeah, which beach is that?
Greetings and 🌹
Thank you very much @vragolana :))
It is a beach a little south of the city of Alicante, close to a smaller town of Santa Pola, in Spain 🌞
I've been to many beaches in Palma de Mallorca, so I thought San Giordi or Alcudia...
Actually, they are all similar with those ropes..
Enjoy by all means Queen Hiva! ☀️👏🌷
Yes, they could be similar, as we are not so far away from Mallorca actually ;)
Just a bit os sea divides us from the island 😁

When I was five years old, I stepped on a jellyfish with my whole foot and the pain was horrible. My leg was red all the way up to my knee, and the pain spread. It was awful! I screamed in despair... Well, that's an ugly story because my father didn't do anything, he didn't even take me to the hospital... Anyway...
Here in Spain, I realised last year that I had been stung by a few, but I only noticed half an hour later when I saw red on my leg. It stung a little, and that was it. Even here, I don't see them, or maybe I've become friends with them. They fascinate me. They're beautiful and they dance... they dance... I know... I'm crazy or very sleepy... Good night!
Oh no, that sounds more serious, and I am sorry you were not attended by a professional to treat the reaction from the sting. Good that here in Spain the stings were very mild. And yes, there are some very beautiful jellyfish, but I suppose those are dangerous if we meet them in a close encounter 😆
Good morning 😇
Yes, that time it was serious... it feels terrible! But on the other hand, they are beautiful to watch from the shore as they pass by. The red ones are the dangerous ones... remember, remember... ha ha ha.
Good morning💞
Good morning @mipiano. I'm sorry about the incident with the jellyfish... I don't think it meant to hurt you, and I'm sure it'll have taken note of your words and from now on will be happy just showing off its elegant dance without stinging anyone.
I'm glad it all ended up as a minor accident. The photos are beautiful, I love the first one. And I'm surprised by the beautiful handwriting of the shells; they also formed a beautiful word.
Happy Tuesday.
Good morning @enraizar, most probably it was not intentional, it was an accident that is now just an anecdote ;)
But the seashells trained their handwriting well, haha. I would need to train as well, as we almost everything just type and do not write on paper. I made the list for shopping for today, at least something 😂
Good afternoon, @mipiano. That's an interesting connection between technology and good handwriting. In my case, I can't blame new inventions... 😁
Best regards. Have a good day.
No, you can't, as I am sure your handwriting remained nice.
sometimes I can't read my own writing 😣
🤣
Have a good day you too, and please add another siesta into your collection.
I will add one to my collection now 😂💤
I will definitely add a new copy. I have everything planned out already. I am very strict with this collection... 💤 (And it's lucky I'm not writing these lines with a pen. 🤣)
👋
Being strict with that collection is very important!!

Gracias... Tienes buena letra. 🤗
I've never experienced this, but when I was a child, I saw a scary short film about it, so I guess you could say I have trauma. I'm very happy that you're doing well. I enjoyed reading your letter. If we turn the bad things we've experienced into stories like this, the pain lessens and it becomes easier to get over them. I'll try that next time
Turning everyday things, pleasant or unpleasant ones into a story or looking at them from a different side can be fun indeed 😉
Ouch, that must have hurt 😲 I've never been stung by a jellyfish, but I heard I mentioned it was very painful 😶
I don't think he did it on purpose, if it were a bird, yes 😂 but maybe he didn't see you, or he was walking and crossed your foot and mistook you for coral 👀 He'll probably send you seashells as a sign of regret hehe ❤️
The seashells Mrs Jellyfish sent me were a nice entertainment, so I have to be grateful for our encounter 😉
So lovely! 😍

Thank you 😇
A rather extensive summer post. There isn't a season of the year that we let go by without learning something. What you say about jellyfish is interesting. I also hope not to meet the friends of the depths. Hahahahaha, I've heard and read that they're not what we think. Well, I don't know if they're legends, but I prefer those from the near surface.
I think I also prefer an encounter with a jellyfish than with some unknown one from the depth of the oceans hahaha. 😆
Ay 😢... Lo siento.
Pero no pasa nada, estoy bien. Es como una picadura leve, mañana ni se verá el sitio donde me picó 🌞
Está bien. 🙂🫂
gracias 😇
This happened to our daughter two years ago in Italy. It hurt so badly and she was crying for half an hour. We were told by locals to pee on it, what she did. And she got some special spray from the bay watch guy. Thank God she was fine after a little while. Some people are allergic what can be really dangerous.
Oh, I am sorry it happened to your daughter and that it brought her some unpleasant moments, but it is good she was fine after a little while. 😊
Indeed, it can be dangerous for people who are allergic to a jellyfish sting. Let's see if the letter makes Mrs. Jellyfish more careful at least with children 🤞
Honestly, you handled it like a pro! I remember panicking during my first jellyfish sting, I even poured fresh water on it (huge mistake haha 😅). Wish I read something like this before. Also, those seashell letters? Too cute
I also got a bit surprised in the moment I felt it, but then I thought it was better to swim back calmly. The seashells in the shallow water entertained me, so the salty water made good. Thank you 😇

A sting wrapped in storytelling you turned a painful moment into a charming seaside memory!
It is better to see life from its bright side, isn't it?
Yes, of course, everything that happens to us in life, we must look at it from a positive perspective, as it is a moment in our lives that we may remember one day and that will at least bring a smile to our face🙂.
