luckily I did not have any fracture, otherwise I would have an operation
Yes. That's a matter of relief.
Actually, if you mean operation as a traditional operation (like surgery), in most of the fracture cases, only need to put a plaster of Pairs (POP) for few weeks. However, if there is an open fracture which expose the bone, then definitely need a surgery.
Anyway, didn't you put a crepe bandage at least to reduce the swelling?
