I have this evening a little bit different #aliveandthriving post! This morning I had some time and wanted to to take a short drive somewhere so...
I drove over to Padre Island. It's only about 8 miles / 12.87 kilometers from my house across the Causeway - but other than my Bank I have currently not much reason to go over there, but I wanted to so off I went! Besides... The 5.0 needed to get "blown out"!
Here is the truck on the beach,
(*just before this some idiot hit me stuck in the sand...)
This is the road out to the beach - here as there are many! Behind the top photo the pavement "ends"! On the bottom one you can see how built up it is out here,
This is where I was stuck - glad I know how to drive, I got myself out!
And this is the main attraction here, "Bob Hall Pier". It is "still" under reconstruction after the last hurricane a few years ago,
This is some friendly people in their "beach buggy" I met out there today,
And a guy on his bike out here and another look at the Pier, the far end. When done (?) it should all in all be a little over a half mile / 804.67 meters.
Here he is going by, and BTW those are "oil rigs" out in The Gulf in the background.
This is the advisory sign for today on the beach. Red Flag conditions (winds / rip tides)! Also notices and "bags for your trash"!
So I left that area and went behind the Dunes, and there first I saw this "Beach Violet",
And then this Sunflower,
And then "Monarch Butterflies", everywhere!
Here is a pair I believe to be make and female (different size heads),
This is one alone,

And this is how many there truly was, I had to pull this guy out of the grille - yep he was still alive and not too mangled!
Well I decided to go ahead and leave and head back to my own Island.. on the way out I noticed this sign in front of one of the rest areas, a good idea!
And that was it for Padre Island - "today"!
