At this point on my life (nearing retirement), I would say that if I was to start over again, I would focus more on skills that would be beneficial in any job like learning other languages and people skills. I would also put more emphasis on entrepreneurial skills like investing, leadership, marketing, and money management. Finally, in today's society, there is a growing need for service businesses, so I would find a niche in that sector to pursue. Looking back, I have had several setbacks in my career that have caused me to have to realize that money is not the driving factor to happiness. I much more value the time I have spent with family and friends and the experiences I've had rather that the things I have acquired. I have also been much more fulfilled in what I do when I am meeting the needs of others rather than chasing after my own desires.

That's an intersting perspective. I think that money as a motivator doesn't really work that well. In my own career I had the choice between more money and less money but with more free time. I have chosen the later and I don't regret it :-)
