I Am Alive! π±
Crime doesn't pay they say. But in my experience in life, it seems like it does. Not that I'm a criminal, lol. I mean from what I observe around me. Well, I just a promising surprise in the news, that hopefully will reinforce the first statement in this paragraph. The ex-Vice President of Suriname just got detained for investigation.
If you're new on my blog, then first of: Suriname is a country. The one I live in, in fact. And no it's not in Africa, as that usually seems to be the first guess. It's actually in South-America, north of our more popular neighbor Brazil. Now that that's out of the way, the government in Suriname is heavily corrupt and even though we just got rid of one of the most corrupt cabinets, the new one seems to be falling into the same vibe. That ex-vice president was a big part of covering up all the corrupt situations I believe.
The funny thing is he didn't always used to be that way. Well, not the outside world at least. That criminal of an ex-vp used to be a lecturer at the university, a very honorable one. He also did charity work and social work in his spare time. I even had lectures from him one year, and he was pretty good at that job. And then suddenly he switched political parties and became Vice President. Funny what Power and Money can do to a person. From model citizen and scholar to corrupt criminal politician despised by a nation. That is the prerogative of the current system we live in.
Now for an appropriate daily funny image to balance out all the drama.
Always the same thing... All around the world... Somewhere they cought them, a lot of times don't... Corrupted politicians are the cancer of society... and if there is a crysis, they start to pop out from everywhere... like mushrooms after rain...
It doesn't matter if the country is poor or rich, there is always something to sell, bribe, steal...
With the way things are going a system based on anarchy would function much better, forming decentralized societies. Anyone who worships clowns goes to one part of the world and anyone who likes cheese goes to another, and so on. No centralized power or governance as the society members govern from the inside.
That's probably not possible though, as humanity is not on that level of thinking yet in our evolution. Also, some people don't know how to function without having someone or something to follow or worship.
You nailed it with this! A lot of people THINK that they can't live without the ruler, as we are thought from an early age that we need to have strict rules, and we learn about "great leaders/rulers" from the past...
And that is hard to take out from the head...

ENGAGEtokens.Sad to hear that you have a corrupt govenment there too, and that your teacher no less was one of the masterminds for it, let's hope you don't follow in his footsteps π, and even more sad that the new government is also corrupt, it seems that there is many ways to replace a government but not the corruption that comes with power, I hope that blockchain has at least some of the answers for that, so let's keep building and see if it can be done.

Decentralized technology is a clear solution and answer to the problem of centralized governments and other types of instances like banks. That is the reason why they are fighting so hard against it. With a distributed ledger no one can cover something up, because everyone has access to that information.
And don't worry, I will not step into his footsteps. π Trying to stay as far away from politics as possible.
I've been in smaller positions of power, like chairman of my faculty's student board, and I have never felt the need to benefit myself.
Maybe you should blockchain that board, all tranparent and no cheating.

Having said that, in Politics or any corporate climbing, to get up the next rung of the ladder compromise has to be made, by the time one is at the top the very reason for startuing the climb can be lost all together.
Staying true to the self is a tough gig in politics and corprations.
But then often those attractyed to such endeavors have the ability for corruption at their core (Not all and thats what so many fall from the ladder)

That is true, unfortunately. As long as the majority is corrupt, it will be hard for anyone with good intentions to maneuver through the system in place. Strategic choice have to be made. Even though I understand it completely, it doesn't feel right at all to me.
And that is why ultimate goal is financial independence, which will enable me to not have to deal with all of that if I don't want to.

Many times I start to think that perhaps it is not possible to be honest when arriving at the government, it cannot be that in all countries and from history, all rulers were corrupt.

When people start thinking more for themselves instead of believing lies without facts, we will be rid of the problem of corrupt government, because no one would vote for them.
Until then we just have to survive and stay alive.
