Yes, many old buildings have been preserved in St. Petersburg. We all - both the city administration and residents - strive to preserve as much as possible. Although it happens that the old buildings are in such a state that it is already impossible to save them.
You can see what ordinary streets in St. Petersburg look like. I have set for you the beginning of the route at the intersection of two streets in one of the old districts. These are ordinary streets with ordinary residential buildings, not a tourist place. You can go either way:
