RE: Walks In Balchik

in Wednesday Walk3 years ago

I love that you named it the Balchick Series! It is like a whole chapter of your life, and very fitting! Somehow, I imagined you moving there someday, leaving Buxharest in the rearview mirror. Ha! Not really, but, it was a pleasant thought for a moment.

Your walks through Balchik are such a pleasure! Starting at the beach is always a good idea! You can immediately spot the sun worshippers, the ones that will take their piece of sunshine, wherever it is. The mother giving her baby fresh air and sunshine! How I love that! We lived on the coast and my mother would take a baby pram (or baby buggy) a push it out to the front porch for a nap. The baby would sleep for hours, the salt air, mixed with the sound of the sea. She always napped her children out on the porch, sometimes in the winter as well, bundled up. We were healthy kids. :) Probably why we love the sea, all of us.

The jetty is a great place to fish too. :) I like to sit on it and enjoy the water and waves...

I am always sad for the Queen, she loved it so much there, and for it to be taken like a losing chess piece... I know they say that all is fair in love and war, but, I don't believe it. I like how they created the canal in the Botanical Gardens, that is such a great idea! The picture that I love best is the cross among the trees, such a peaceful sight. To be buried in such loveliness!

The flowers that you pointed out are allum. I have those in my garden too, but, they are purple. They look kind of silly to me as they have no leaves and I always want to pull them up when they start appearing... I have done that., for more years than I care to admit.

Le sigh.

Thank you for including the flowers! @alwaysaflower! Of course, it makes it special to me! A wonderful #WednesdayWalk!

I titled this series Balchik because I realized that I like to write about this place the most. I realize that I am repeating myself, although the historical facts I cannot change, instead I try to use other photos and other information. I think many are bored or worse, I think I recycle. Who knows?

For a long time, it seemed to me that it couldn't be true that someone lived so close to the sea. Only in American movies have I seen. So you were one of those movie characters who grew up by the sea, who saw the sea through the window! Something magical, I don't know how much you kids realize that it's something special.

I thought of moving to Balchik myself. I don't think it would have been right... I'm afraid I'm confusing vacation with everyday life.

So they're called allum. You have purple. I know the purple ones and I like them better than the white ones. Magda likes them, I don't have an opinion about them.

Thank you, Denise! As always, you extracted everything from my post and I'm glad you liked it.
