Wednesday Walk - A Wet Walk Around Ashover Rock

in Wednesday Walklast year (edited)

Yet again, more rain! I like wet weather but it's getting really boring now. I sat in my car thinking do I really want to do this? Yes! Let's do the #wednesdaywalk initiated by @tattoodjay.

It was a piss wet, windy, misty and cold day but I was still determined to do a circular walk around Ashover Rock, a gritstone boulder. I parked at the side of the road and followed the footpath.

The rain made the wet bracken look a nice rusty brown colour.

Sometimes when it's a popular dog walking spot it can get a bit too crowded. The beauty of coming out in the rain is that you never see another soul!

There was stone steps back up to the top but I carried on along the bottom footpath.

When it's misty it can look a bit eerie with the rock in the background. On a nice, clear day you can look down on the village below and enjoy the views of the fields and countryside. Unfortunately, not today though.

I found some nice tree art by 'Liz 2023'. It is becoming a favourite spot for amatuer artists. It's nice because you never know what you are going to find.

After a quick half an hour walk, it got too wet and windy, so I cut across the field back to the car. Getting cold and wet doesn't make you feel great but it's nice to get out for a short walk. It's a good feeling having achieved something.

I like wet weather but it's getting really boring now.

😅 Hi there, @ellenripley. I know what you mean. We are not easily pleased. We want for whole and then we don't want! Look at the upside -there was no one to around to disturb your walk.

Your pictures are neat and fine. I love those stone steps. I'm imagining how they were put together to make climbing easy. Nice. 😊😊🤗

I love the stone steps but I don’t trust myself to walk up them. I'm far too clumsy. 😁

Oh! You suddenly have rainy season in winter! Blue sky would have been nice there. We need some rain, you could share some rain with us!

Oh with pleasure. Had to get the big coat out!

unlike me you dont let the rain slow you down, and still got a beautiful walk in, the fog and damp gives a cool feel

I love that tree art :)

Thanks for joining the Wednesday, its always fun for me to visit the walks from all around the world, getting a feel for communities where people live and what they see on their daily walks

I think you have to like it or lump it living in the UK. 😁🌧

Yeah I guess thats true, that said I was lucky on all my visits ot the UK, I got very lucky with the weather for the most part
