today i had been sitting inside all day until 4:30. i needed a walk out in the cool sunny weather. as many times before i headed to park at the old military base. but this time is different. @qurator has a photo contest going on featuring low key photography which is something i haven't done much of. a few portraits but not outside in the golden light around sunset.

not the optimal time and place for low key??

let's see if we can find a way inside this technique

ah the old boat winch by the canal looks like a good place to start

hmm not bad but i will have to edit out some of the exposure
later on

these gears are great

i love how these colors came out of the darkness when i jacked up the contrast and toyed with the vibrance.

this is the hook to lift the boats.
ok enough of those

haven't heard from Q in a while i guess he's pretty busy these days

the sun is shining on the old shipyard building on the other side of the canal and the reflection under the bridge is amazing

reducing the ISO really brings the colors to life

but the sun is going down and i want to catch the last rays in the erect old wooden rowboats

not sure if these two qualify as low key but i like them.

standing under the old bell looking up inside

looking in one window and straight out the other!

out of the park on the way home the sun is still on the masts of the sailboats in the harbor

to finish off a couple of shots under the rescue boat dock just below our house

thanks for joining me. hope you liked the walk as much as i did

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)
thanks a lot. it was fun trying to work out the technique.
Some pretty awesome shots you got here! One of these days I’ll get out there in the wee morning hours to get some cool pictures!
thanks and good luck
