We were visiting my dad in the far north of Scotland at the weekend. While there my wife and I went out for a nice walk along Thurso seafront just as the sun was setting and we had beautiful views out to sea.
Thurso is on the north coast of Scotland, and looks out over the North Atlantic Ocean. The above pic was taken from the harbour pier, looking over to Holburn Head - which is the headland you can see. The sunset was pretty spectacular !
The view above looks over part of the harbour. The black speck you can see in the water was actually a seal. There were two swimming there, but one had just bobbed under.
The view above is a little further along from the pier, and looks directly out to sea. The land you can see in the distance is the Orkney Islands. The rocks were put there to break the power of the waves which can be pretty crazy in Winter !
The pic above looks the other way, inland back over the town of Thurso.
And the pic above was taken further along the path above the beach, and looks towards Holburn Head again. The lights you can see there are the port of Scrabster.
We walked right along the beach front and up the steps at the other side where the pic above was taken, again looking over to Holburn Head.
The pic above is taken from the same location and looks back along the beach towards the harbour, the way we came from - sorry, but it really is out of focus. The land you can see at the top left is actually Dunnet Head, which is part of the mainland and actually the true most northerly point on the UK mainland (John O'Groats is not the geographical northly point).
And we spotted this new cafe along the sea front. The building has been there for years - since before I was born, so 50+, but it has recently been opened as this new cafe - I just love the paint job !
Well we really loved our walk along the sea front watching the sunset. With Thurso being so far north, it took ages for the sun to go down, and never actually went down the whole hour it took us to do the walk !
Thats my walk for this Wednesday, and I'm looking forward to seeing the posts from around the rest of the world !

Many thanks - the town is lovely when the weather is nice, but it can be rainy and windy for many days of the year and particularly all of winter, and in those months - it does not seem so nice !
I might have a different opinion🤣I am all about chaos and storms🤣🤣🤣🤣
Walking on the beach is very exciting, especially in the afternoon, I can feel the sunset light which is so luxurious.
