I'm in Lytham St Anne's in England this evening. I travelled down for a work meeting, and took a stroll along the seafront, which my hotel looks out onto for my wednesday walk !
Its on the East coast of England near Blackpool and looks out over the Irish Sea.
I took the pic above from my hotel window just after I got back in from the walk. The sun was just starting to go down. You can see the pier, and how far the tide was out.
I've only driven through Lytham St Annes before - its my first time staying. It was a popular seaside resort before the advent of foreign travel, but its pretty seafront still attracts visitors.
The beautiful fountain above was right across the road from the hotel. There are features like this all up and down the seafront, which is really nice.
As can be seen above, it was a lovely evening, and the tide was really far out !
The pier dates back to 1885 from the Victorian era, when piers were very popular tourist attractions, and still are.
And there were a number of victorian shelters along the seafront, like the one above.
And also a nice octagonal one (above).
These train coaches above had been turned into a cafe, and was of course advertising a Pullman Breakfast !
And above is a row of beach huts, which is quite an English thing. Your hire or buy one of these and you can spend all day down at the each with some creature comforts stored close to hand. Some huts have TVs, microwaves - anything you can imagine. Plus they give you a place to shelter when the weather turns sour - its England after all !
Above is a memorial statue to the brave men and women of have served with the local life boat.
And above is a stature of Les Dawson, who was a very famous English comedian. He was fantastic - search for his piano playing on youtube - absolute comedy brilliance. Although I have to say the statue was not the closest of likenesses !
The sun was starting to silhouette the pier quite nicely as it started to go down.
And the sun was also starting to cast really long shadows, considering it was so flat.
And above was some health and safety advice - cant beat a bit of UK health & Safety. 'That could take your eye out if you weren't careful'.
And thats the pier front above. With the usual ice creams shops and amusements - pity it was closed when I was passing.
Well I really enjoyed the walk and seeing the sea front. Wednesday Walk is a great community effort, and it does make me go out and grab some great experiences.

the view from your hotel is awesome, and WOW that tide is so low, I wonder if thats normal or an exceptional low tide
I love the style of all the buildings and shelters etc, like from a time way back
and then that colorful fountain, not sure I have ever seen one that colorful before
