Having a short genuine time together with the right people is better than spending your whole day with people that you are not compatible with. Spending a short quality time is more unforgettable than those times that you don't mind being with each other.

In this blog, I will share with you a short walk on a 1.8-kilometer road after our Onboarding Orientation in Malingin Elementary School last October 21, 2023. Transportation in the area is poor and it is far away from the national road, there is seldom motorcycle passing by. However sir @natsve54 has a car and offered us to ride on going out, we just declined it and decided to walk the 1.8-kilometer road to have more time with each other, have some bond, and learn more about the place.

Malingin Elementary School

The walk started after our last picture taking with sir @natsve54 outside the gate of his beloved school. With me on this walk are the other organizer of this event,(@indayclara,@callmesmile, @dehai, @jobeliever, @ciadanmea, @naymhapz together with her lovely daughter). In this kind of walking adventure, with this new circle of friends built through Hive, I was looking forward to learning more about the place, It's my first time stopping by Bogo Cebu, and I want to learn about the community they have even in this small radius where the enthusiast Hivers came from.

It's 1:30 pm when we start stepping onto the road, It's a bit cloudy and Mister Sun is a bit shy hiding in the clouds. While walking we start tackling the Hive Onboarding orientation we've done. They share how thankful they are to the Host sir @natsve54 for being generous and supportive to Hive.

On our way, we observe that almost the area beside the road is small farmlands. They are planted with different variants of crops and serve as the livelihood of the community.

In our first five minutes of walking, we passed by a family of farmers clearing the weeds in their farmland of root crops such as Cassava and Tarro that they planted. At this time ma'am @ciadanmea reminisced and shared with us that they used to do that together with her father and mother in their farmlands when she was a child. She also helps her family to take care of their small farmlands to survive.

It's inspiring to know that through the hard work of his parents, they not only planted and harvested good crops but also a good daughter and now a fine teacher/blogger. Now I know why maam @ciadanmea loves gardening activities.

A few minutes away from the farmland of root crops, we pass by a small plantation of banana. We saw some trees with fruits that were ready to harvest. On this part, ma'am @dehai jokingly in cutting one, then got the crop, and put it in our bag so the owner would not notice it 🤣. Talking about maam @dehia she is somehow famous in the area. Some people passing by say hi to her and give some greetings. Though she responded politely with a smile, a few seconds later when she turned around she laughed quietly and told us that she didn't know them totally. We laugh hard at this after she tells us. we thought that they knew thoroughly because they had a small good conversation but only to find out ma'am @dehai forgot who they were 🤣. Maam @dehai is really funny on this walk and gives u a good laugh 🤣🤣. (It happens twice on this walk)

After the banana plantation, we reached the bridge. Mr. Sun this time came out with rage but the air in this area was a bit cooler because of the river below. We stopped for a few minutes here to see what was on the river. Some of my companions jokingly swam in the river with the carabao 🤣. We also find out that there are fish resurfacing in the water calmy.

After 3 minutes, we continue walking and turn left and reach the farmland of Corn Crops. In this area, there is a Corn Derby Festival happening when I pass by going to the Orientation in the morning. It is a Farmers Varietal Techno Demo. An orientation cascaded the information about the variety of corn they planted on this farmland.

This is one of the reasons why we also decided to walk, we are curious about the event and also want to learn even a little information about Corn Farming. Sad to say that when we pass by, the event is already done and the organizer are almost finishing keeping up their things.

Corn Demo Samples

A few meters from the Corn Derby Demo, we reach a farmland of Sugarcane. Exactly when we pass by a group of farmers who have just finished harvesting sugarcane and loading it onto a power truck to transport it into a Manufacturing facility that will produce sugar.

On this part, I learned from my co-onboarders that in Northern Cebu most of the farmlands are planted with sugarcane. It is the common livelihood of the farmers/community in this area. Theirs a lot of manufacturers that produce sugar and become a supplier of sugar around the Philippines.

It's already 1:45 PM when we reach this mini forest, it is just a few walks from the farmland of sugarcane. The air in this area is fresh and cooler, the branches of the trees cover the road and give us shade from the sun.

And, after twenty minutes of continuous walking, we finally reach the intersection on the National Highway. It is the point where we can ride a vehicle for transportation. This 1.8-kilometer of walking is a little bit exhausting but gives me more learning and discovery. From the community and livelihood of the people living in the area, I learned also more about these amazing people which gave me comfort when I visited Northern Cebu.

Spending quality time like this together with them is unforgettable for me, there is no dull moment. It is fun and a lot of learning from each other. I'm very grateful that I know these genuine people through Hive. I'm looking forward to our more enjoyable walking moments together 😊.

That's an interesting and meaningful walk @intoy.bugoy
And it's great to walk with these nice friends.
For me, I love travelling around and taking photos, so I walk a lot too.

Traveling around is one of my best hobbies, taking photos of the moment in the place and with the good people is worth capturing. Thank you for dropping by my friend @dodovietnam, glad you like it.

It's a shame that they had to walk because of faulty transportation, but the good thing about the city is that it has allowed you to get to know the place better.
Beautiful photographs, I appreciate that you shared the experience of this hike dear friend @intoy.bugoy

Nagiging masaya talaga ang lakad kapag ka close mo mga kasama no? Like no dull moment, you can easily talk about anything too like a close friends do.

This is an awesome walk po, I also enjoy it looking at those picture. Ramdam ko yung init sa picture aguyy.

Tama @ruffatotmeee, iba talaga basta komportable kana sa mga kasama mo. It became more enjoyable. Thank you for the visit. glad you like it.

Hahahahaahaha.Oh yeah! I'm famous. Joke... I will run for captain there soon. Hahaha, Well, I enjoy reading this blog. So alegre...This walk is memorable for us. This shows how eager we are to support and spread hive to our community and country. Thank you sr @intoy.bugoy for featuring this walk.

So alegre gyud maam, halos katawa kug tibook nato na paglakaw hahahaha. makadaug gyud kag Kapitan maam.

Hahahaha unsaun nalang

I know that it would be fun walking along the uncemented road from our school to the highway sir @intoy.bugoy. In fact, I was also eager to walk with the group to enjoy the company and the things along the way. But, I also had an emergency during that time.

Thank you for being with us with mam @indayclara, mam @dehai, and the rest of the knowledgeable and friendly facilitators and members of the Hive Community during the Hive Orientation and OCD Onboarding. I would also like to thank sir @ybanezkim26 for the support for the realization of this momentous event.

Awesome you walk fast, eh? 1.8 kilometers in 20 minutes. Walking indeed is a great experience because of the sceneries around.

but do you hold online meetings about onboarding and hive? Can I join if so? I think I still have a lot to learn about hive
