A Stroll Through the Plaza
I return to my favorite parts of Caracas. For some reason I don't understand, I find the blocks adjacent to Plaza Bolívar charming. Unlike what happens in the historic centers of other countries, here we do not enter a parallel world full of old houses and cobblestone streets. On the contrary, we find a controversial space, altered over time, resulting in a mosaic of nuances and styles that combine with commercial streets and heavy foot traffic.

Un Paseo por la Plaza
Regreso a mis cuadros favoritos de la ciudad de Caracas, por alguna razón que desconozco las cuadras adyacentes a la Bolívar Square me resultan encantadoras, a diferencia de lo que ocurre en los centros históricos de otros países aquí no nos adentramos en un mundo paralelo, lleno de casas viejas y calles de piedra, sino al contrario nos encontramos con un espacio controversial, intervenido a través del tiempo y cuyo resultado es un mosaico de matices y estilos, los cuales se conjugan con calles comerciales y una alta afluencia peatonal.
The plaza is not a place cloaked in reverence and sobriety, but rather a public space open to all the people, where cultural events, political events, and religious ceremonies are held, and historical events are remembered, silently But at the same time, it is very imposing, with the statue of Simón Bolívar, a man who is respected and admired, as his work for freedom transcended his era and many of his victories and strategies on the battlefield are truly epic.
La plaza no es un lugar revestida de reverencia y sobriedad, más bien se trata de un espacio público abierto a todo el pueblo, en donde se celebran manifestaciones culturales, eventos políticos, ceremonias religiosas y se recuerdan acontecimientos históricos, silente, pero al mismo tiempo muy imponente del Libeartador Simón Bolívar, un hombre al cual se le tiene respeto y admiración, ya que su obra libertaria trascendió a su época y muchas de sus victorias y estrategias en el campo de batalla resultan verdaderamente épicas.
But without straying too far from our surroundings, I can tell you that these are very friendly blocks where pedestrian traffic is prioritized and where we are constantly sheltered by incredible, centuries-old trees that reach up to the sky and serve as a reminder of a city characterized by constant change.
Pero sin alejarnos de nuestro entorno, les puedo comentar que se trata de unas cuadras muy amigables en donde se prioriza la circulación peatonal y en donde en todo momento nos encontraremos bajo el cobijo de increíbles y centenarios árboles, los cuales se elevan al cielo y al mismo tiempo son el recuerdo de una ciudad que se caracteriza por vivir en medio de constantes cambios.
While many people are uncomfortable with these changes, I enjoy them. I think it's great that this space is dynamic, alive, and always offers me a different surprise, where I can enjoy a space that is never monotonous, but maintains a welcoming spirit and, of course, highlights our identity through time, all while maintaining its essence and preserving our roots.
Mientras a muchas personas les incomodan estos cambios, yo disfruto de ellos. Me parece genial que este espacio sea dinámico, se encuentre vivo y siempre me regale una sorpresa diferente, en donde yo pueda disfrutar de un espacio que no se vuelva monótono, pero que mantenga un espíritu acogedor y, por supuesto, que resalte nuestra identidad a través del tiempo, todo esto manteniendo su esencia y preservando nuestras raíces.
The historic center of the city is perfectly connected to the rest of the city; not only can we get there via the underground transport system, but we can also do so via surface transport and, in my case, I can even walk there. It is an area that is very safe and at the same time offers us all the amenities we need to enjoy a pleasant and peaceful time.
El casco histórico de la ciudad es un espacio perfectamente conectado con el resto de la ciudad; aquí no solo podemos llegar a través del sistema de transporte subterráneo, sino que también lo podremos realizar a través del transporte superficial e, incluso en mi caso, lo puedo hacer a pie. Es un área que cuenta con mucha seguridad ciudadana y que al mismo tiempo nos regala todas las comodidades para disfrutar de un momento agradable y tranquilo.
