A nice day and you can feel spring in the air, 11 C (51.8°F), almost balmy! I decided to take a walk in the nearby bush (forest, woods.) You can see that it's a popular spot.
In winter, you can see this angry looking tree stump. In the other seasons, it's hidden by all of the leaves.
There are a few larger trees here.
I follow the well packed snow path. The weather is just warm enough that when I step off the packed snow, I sink in almost up to my knees.
There is a fresh hole. I wonder who made that one?
I look up but I don't see any others here.
Wow! I assume these were made by hungry woodpeckers.
The tree looks dead and well pecked.
This bark has a very interesting texture to it.
Late afternoon and the shadows are starting to lengthen.
I leave the the bush by a different path and skirt its edge. We're expecting rain in the next few days and that could spell the end to much of the snow.
This is the part of winter that doesn't make it into tourist brochures. As the snow melts, all the filth shows up.
Still lovely to be outside on such a nice day.
