Hello, friends!
Spontaneity is very important. Sometimes it saves from boredom in a bad mood.
So quickly get ready for the road and now we will take a little walk in the fresh air! Let's try to forget for a few minutes what hurts and worries someone.
Early spring, it's rather warm.
The wind is sleeping today. The sun, which shone brightly in the morning, has slightly gone behind the clouds. It's a little foggy. Cozy, but the photos don't turn out very well... And there's no need.
My place of power. There are few people here today.
Krekhiv Monastery. I used to visit here every year. More often in the summer, when nature is green, or in the fall, when it is orange.
Early spring is an unusual time of year for me. The trees are still bare. The colors are almost absent... Ancient buildings stand as if naked too!
And it is interesting, it excites the mind and calls to look for some new nooks and views.
No matter how many times I visit here, I can always find something new here!
Today we went up to the cemetery on the hill near the monastery. On one side of it, people from the village are buried. On the other side there are monks' tombs. It's an interesting place, because some of the tombstones are quite old... Some have photos, some only names.
And nearby we came across such a small chapel. Going inside, I felt like I was in an ancient temple. These arches and columns are so unusual here.
And I discovered new perspectives for contemplating architecture...
The monastery was founded in 1612 and, as was customary in those days, was surrounded by a thick wall to protect against enemies. At the beginning of the 20th century, the buildings fell into disrepair. And their main enemy was time and lack of repair. And only after Ukraine achieved Independence (1991) did the restoration of the shrine begin.
But even more than the world of architecture, I am attracted by the forest, nature and caves!!! It was from the caves that the ascetic life of monks began at the turn of the 16th-17th centuries. So let's go...
The forest has not yet woken up from winter completely, there are not even the first flowers yet. But the smell of spring and the singing of birds are already present. And a strange foreboding of spring in the soul. It becomes easier to breathe... The troubles recede for a while.
We reached my favorite caves.
They are small, probably of natural origin, but people expanded them. In one cave there was a church, and in the other a cell.
By and large, I have an incredible number of photos of these places from the past.
So I will tell you more someday!
Because this time it started to get dark quickly, and we still have to see the source.
The old signpost was completely swallowed by the tree. Interesting detail.
The terrain here is hilly, the forest is "plowed" with deep ravines.
In one of the ravines there is a spring with very tasty water. Recently, convenient stairs and railings were made here, because there is a really steep descent.
A beautiful place. Maybe in my photos it turned out a little gloomy. And all because I sleep long in the morning and go on a trip at lunchtime:)
I wanted to be here longer and listen to the music of the water.
People come here to pray and collect water from all the region.
I did see the first flowers in the garden near an abandoned house.
And our walk ended again near the monastery. We entered from the back side to shorten the path. Tourists probably never go here, but what a beautiful angle!
We also visited the church for a few minutes, where the evening service was going on and the monks and novices were singing.
Well, see you later, my favorite place of strength! May there be peace here and in whole Ukraine.
It's good that they try to restore the shrine; this place is historic and as a sign of respect for the departed souls (buried in the nearby grave). Its site is also suitable; looks remote and surrounded with trees where one can feel tranquility. I think that if someone needs to have self-reflection or time to contemplate, one can do this in this shrine.
Thank you very much for reading my post carefully. I completely agree with you!
This is a good place for meditation.
