A Peek Into My City, One Sight At A Time.

in Wednesday Walk2 days ago (edited)

Hullo, happy hump day y'all! Yah yah! 😀

How's the weather in your region? The rains seems to have seized here, at least we haven't experienced any downpour since the week began and the atmosphere is gradually becoming warm.

But on the other hand, it seems like it's the start of the harmattan season because this morning as I stepped out of my corridor, I felt the touch of a refreshing breeze that reminded me of the cool, gentle winds of Harmattan.

Walking out to the frontyard, I noticed the leaves on the plants and trees were gently swaying in the wind, rustling softly as the breeze passed through them. Maybe harmattan season is already here! Hmmm, a perfect season for taking a walk or stroll around, especially in the chilly mornings or warm evenings under the sunset.

Talking about taking a walk, yesterday had me embarking on a short walk from Aba Park to Bata Junction, where I caught a ride to my destination. The weather was beautiful and bright, making it a perfect day for a stroll. I had just seen off my niece, who was heading back to school, and decided to take a walk to have a feel of the sights and sounds of my city.

As I walked, I also snapped some photos of the sights that caught my attention. I actually forgot to take pictures, only remembering when I got to Aba South LGA. What, Luchyl forgetting to snap photos and my phone was right in my hands! Imagine the likeness! Hahaha.

When I came to, I Immediately swung into action, taking beautiful snapshots of this part of my city.
So here we go

Aba South LGA

The first local government in Abịa State, which houses the popular Aba town hall. It has produced other LGA's like Aba North, Obingwa and the rest.

A 3-in-1 roadside vendor. A typical sight in my city.

I sampled this colorful slippers but it was way too loose for my feet. If only it fitted well, I would have bought me a new slippers. 😂

Then down to the iconic Bank of Industry building, No 1 Park Road.

Next shot is this facility housing Abia line transport company and Ákwá-Ibom transport company, AKTC.

Did you see the elephant sculpture? I'll talk about it in another post.

Across the other side of the road is another transportation company, Peace park.

They travel to every state of the federation. Beautiful place with nice amenities. I haven't boarded there before so can't say about their customer service.

Moving ahead, I spotted the iconic Rotary Club district 9140 building.

Nice shot. Construction underway and a catchy advert. 😂

A Bank must always be within reach. This particular bank, Union bank is one of the long standing banks in my city.

Across the road just opposite the back is this fuel station and the Electronics showroom.

And here we have Bata Junction, a roundabout connecting Park Road, Aba/Ikot Ekpene road and Factory road leading to Aba/Owerri road down to Umungasi - Abayi. This is actually a major road that leads to the expressway heading to other towns and cities.

Another age long bank, Fidelity bank. I have an account here though but it's crying for funding. 😂 Anyone help?

Dhabi's Place housing a fast food, unisex salon, event hall, lounge and more.

No missing nature - a beautiful flowering plant.

Another catchy advert. I'm sure @tengolotodo would love to see this. 😜

Crunchies Fast food in view. Want a bite? 😂

It was at this point that I picked a ride to where I was headed to.

The walk gave me a chance to once again appreciate the beauty of my city, see the ongoing road maintenance, and take in the sights and sounds of my environment. It was rather a refreshing experience, and I'm grateful for the opportunity of having this short walk.

I'm equally happy to share the photos with you. I'd love to know which caught your fancy. 😂

Thank you for coming around.

Many thanks.

Hi!
What a great and extensive hike you had! Well done! Thanks for showing us around!
By the way, what is a harmatan?

I appreciate your visit and engagement.

Harmattan is a seasonal weather pattern that affects West Africa, including Nigeria, typically from November to March. It's characterized by a dry, dusty, and cool wind blowing from the Sahara Desert across the region.
