Wednesday Walk: Go Where Real Life Happens

in Wednesday Walklast month

Our home for us is a place where we feel safe. Home is aplace where we let our hearts run wild, without fear that someone will trample on it. Home is a fortress, where mature thoughts and words go out into the world, and once they become friends with experience, they come back together. Home is the space of our existence and life, where we hide from noise, confusion and anxiety, so that we can cross the threshold again after licking the wounds in solitude.

But when we close the door of the house and get to know the world, we look at it with different eyes, the illusions we created can easily fall apart. The world changes our way of thinking, the degree of our perception. Therefore, closing yourself in your cozy home world is not an option. The world outside the door beckons and invites, so let's go to it with an open heart, accepting the signs sent to us by nature.

When I stayed in Greece a few months ago and winter came, I couldn't take my eyes off the lush green land. In summer in Greece, it is very hot, everything dries up, only the roses near the house are watered and specially watered grasses bloom, but otherwise the land is dry. And in autumn and winter, lush grass covers everything, and it seems that the Greeks are also happy with that grass and are in no hurry to cut it. Today is already April, and our neighbor had just now cut the grass in the yard, which was already waist-high behind the fence, in the gardens. I looked at that grass in the winter and kept thinking about how beautiful it is.

The same with oranges and lemons. All winter I have been admiring the trees that are full of fruit. Every time I go for a walk, I pick a couple of oranges from the tree, because we have a lot of them here. In the long run, the realization that those oranges are constantly ripening here, that when we eat one, and the same tree is already full of blossoms again, gives some sense of security.

When you don't see bare trees and nature, you are calmer, and even if it will be very difficult, if you remain without any finances, you will never die of hunger here, because there will always be, if not oranges, then other fruits or herbs on the trees. Maybe that's why southerners are more relaxed, because they actually feel safe and loved in God's hands.

And we, northerners, are constantly fighting for existence, for survival... And we sometimes show our love so stingily... Because we don't trust divine generosity because of the same angry nature?

And spring makes us happy with its colors and flowers. And the sun. Life seems easier and happier when you see so many colors, you want to smile at everyone you meet. And there are enough people here. When I go for a walk, I always meet even a few neighbors.

And you just can't sit down at home, your legs seem to be taking you outside, to nature, to life. Because that's where real life happens.
