For this week's Wednesdaywalk challenge, I chose a walk through Kovilj.
Although this place is only 6-7 kilometers from me, I don't take the road that leads through Kovilj, so I don't visit this place often.
I left my car next to a fenced park. It's a memorial park for fallen soldiers.
The fence caught my eye, they were careful about the trees when they were putting up the fence.
Across this park, both the park and this Main Street are named after the famous poet Laza Kostić
- From Wikipedia : Lazar Laza Kostić (Kovilj, 31 January / 12 February 1841 – Vienna, 26 November 1910) was a Serbian scholar and academic. He was involved in literature (poetry and prose), law, journalism and aesthetics. He was a doctor of law by education.
There is a house where Laza Kostić was born and lived
Old architecture, And the memorial plaque is a little faded, trees next to . Somehow I managed to find a corner to take pictures of everything.
Right next to Laza Kostić's house is one of the two Orthodox churches.
Once this place was actually two settlements.
It was called Gornji (Upper) Kovilj and Donji (Lower)Kovilj.
Although the difference in altitude is a few meters, for us from the plains that is enough for such names.
Over time, the two settlements formed one place, but since each place had its own church, now in Kovilj we have two.
The street is wide and long And you can find old architecture
There is a building from a retirement home and a building from a local community
Further down the street we come across another park with a market behind it.
And after almost two kilometers there is another Orthodox church.
Churches facing each other.
I don't know who copied who.
Across the street from the church is another park.
In a few days it will be November, now the night is falling fast.
And the temperature is getting lower, Autumn is taking its toll.
