Accompanied by grey clouds

Does twelve thousand steps count as a good walk where you get tired enough to just fall into bed and fall immediately asleep at night? Mix with that activity the almost non-stop talking, the excitement of a Hive meeting, and the uncertainty of whether or not the rain will catch us at some point. I would say yes.

After we met and exchanged our first impressions and consumed our cups of coffee in a bar with a very cool, musical name - piano bar, we went for a walk through the main street in the city centre.

These were my colleagues for this walk. I could tag all of them, as each of them is a Hiver, but let's not abuse the tag option and let them chill and rest from this exhausting day we had yesterday.

I just realised we didn't take any photos of the ice cream we bought at the oldest ice cream parlour in this town. 🤦‍♀ The Hiver in the pink T-shirt was more than surprised by how affordable it was and how big a portion of ice cream was here. He said that in Belgrade it is much more expensive.

Our walk led us until the end of the main street, where we saw the town hall, the building of the police station, and two "portals", as our guests called those... I am not sure how to call them... artwork? lamp posts? Anyway, they were the Hive portals, and the Hiver in the black T-shirt made a very cool photo with us peeking out from behind the pillars of that object. We will hopefully see it in his post one day. 😎

Then we went to the completely other side of the town, btw Apatin, I still didn't mention its name. So, here we met more Hivers - of course, just in our imagination. Look, @godfish, we found you! Everyone agreed it was you! 😁

And you were mentioned once again when we arrived at the brewery of Apatin. It was founded in 1756, and although the owners changed a few times since then, and new buildings were added to the whole complex of this brewery, the old, original building with this facade evoking the German origins is the most beautiful part of it.

After seeing the main street, its old chestnut trees, the church, the old school, the town hall, and the brewery, we headed towards the Danube River. The sky was so dark in some parts. Storms usually come from this direction... Will we have luck and stay dry during this walk?

I guess that Ања, the silver heron, talked to the clouds, as even though we went to the Orthodox Church, the rain hadn't started before we got close to the restaurant where we had our lunch.

This is one of the boards which shows a part of the route of the Amazon of Europe Bike Trails. There were several routes and trails, and each one explained to you where to ride and what you could see there. We just walked yesterday, no bike tours for us this time.

We just took a few photos of the Orthodox Chruch of Synaxis of the Holy Apostles, and then went back to Zlatna Kruna restaurant. Just a few steps away, the rain started. What luck to hide there in the covered terrace.

20250722_135607.jpg

My order was a bottle of Coca-Cola. I got it with the "pobednica" name, which means winner. I don't know what I won; I didn't take part in any competition. 😂 Maybe I won the view of the Danube as the main prize?

20250722_141404.jpg

I know - it was the competition of taking the most crooked photo of the river! It must be that, I have no doubts! 🤣

20250722_142214.jpg

Our lunch arrived! This is the proof of schnitzel 😂 (which reminds me of our Graz Hive meetup...).
It was a bit cold to sit there, on the terrace, so after I finished my lunch, I went to get a sweater. The grey clouds saw that and decided to leave that area. It became warmer, the rain also went away and the whole afternoon, after this lunch was spent in visiting very cool places in nature and walking until the sun set on the green horizon.

by grey clouds you mean that man with the grey baseball cap ? 😜

looking at the prices on the menu i hope that isn't in €uros .

Enjoy your vacation !!

!PIMP
!BBH

Hahaha, the man with the grey baseball cap also accompanied me 😂 The clouds too ;P

The prices are in Serbian dinars. So, the first one you see, 1380, is around 12 euros. One portion of the dish was between 12 and 15 euros. The bill for the five of us was 6800 dinars, that is what the man with the grey cap said as I went to pick up my sweater, and we divided it equally among us and paid. Actually, the man with the grey cap paid my part as well 😂

Without a doubt, seeing this post makes my feet tell me: "Get up, lazybones, and go for a walk. Look what you're missing." Hahahahaha. Everything looks so clean, well-maintained, and elegant for a good walk, and if it's with fellow ecosystem members, even better. These are pleasant moments that make for a good memory.

Hahah, but today it will be me who will be lazy after yesterday's walk, today just rest and a bit of bike 😂
Right now, I think it will be siesta 💤

ah... the danube heron... always a lovely sight, no matter the weather :P

You remember the heron, right? 😇

Actually, the sky was pretty in this way too! ;))

of course! ye olde chrome heron 🤣

What a beautiful view from that spot while having a drink... I had a 7Up, ha ha ha.

Really, what a beautiful walk. The clouds were grey, but the landscapes are still beautiful, the buildings too. And it's true, I don't like tagging either, unless it's necessary or when someone asks me to... I guess I'll tag you before the summer ends...

I fell in love with the silver heron. That piece is so beautiful!!!🤗

Now I am sure you like 7up, so instead of mate during summer, 7up is your favourite drink :D

The heron is not actually made from silver, it just shines so nicely that it is like silver for me :) Thank you! 😇

Well then... it's silver, say no more, ha ha ha.

🤫 then it is 😁

That photo of the river is very cool, but I'd say the prize goes to you for the photos of the Apatin brewery—it's quite a monument. By the way, what a summer! I'm thinking about what winter will be like.

Best regards.

Haha, the prize can go to everyone who takes photos of the brewery, as it is very photogenic. 😉
The summer here really has many faces, two days ago it was warmer than in Spain, yesterday cold with these grey clouds and then today again warm and sunny. It is not boring, that is true 😂

I'll tell you that the weather here bores me 🥵🤣

Then pack your backpack and come here for a week or two 😉

I have work until August 14th 😭🤣

🥲

Well, as I mentioned in my text and my husband just showed in his post, there was a little Hive portal there. You could do that, being at two places at the same time 😂

I'll try, I hope the portal works... I usually have very bad luck with portals ☹️

Hiver in a pink T-shirt, because of the long way home and all day's activities, fell into bed as if unconscious and forgot that today is Wednesday.

Although, it would be too much if he also shared pictures from the same walk, on the same day, on the same route.

But when you say

we didn't take any photos of the ice cream we bought at the oldest ice cream parlor in this town

I think you are wrong...

You'll see sometime 🙂

I think you are wrong...

I am very happy that I am wrong!! Ok, I will be waiting for that ice cream post 😁 (and urbex and all the rest 😁)

Hahaha, I am not surprised you forgot which day it was hahaha, we had quite an active day. Thank you for coming to the meetup. It was great to meet you in person! 😇

Many places of interest to distract you from number of steps, what a lovely time to be outdoors enjoying the places of interest with you.

We just enjoyed the whole day and the company, and then one of the guys from the photos said his app showed that we made more than 12,000 steps 😂

Pleasant surprise when out enjoying oneself with good company and scenery.

Thanks for joining the Wednesday walk

Sorrty Generic comments today, I have a swollen and red left eyelid thats so swollen I cant see out of that eye at the moment so off to Drs shortly to get it checked
Have a great day

I hope that the issue with your eye will be healed. Get well soon, @tattoodjay 🙏

The Dr gave me an ointment and antibiotics so hopefully they will do the trick quickly

You are very welcome @mipiano! it was well deserved. ☀️
We are already looking forward to reading more about your adventures!

12k steps is a months exercise!
looks a good way to walk that many steps though.

Well, it passed without noticing it... but in the evening, someone just switched off the day in a second 😂

LOL, zzzzzzzzzzzz

Hahha, I think it is a good walk , before I would do that then eat after, lol. At least burnt some calories.

Oh coca cola, reminds me I wanted to buy even a small bottle but dismissed the idea as it was raining here.

We walked before and then after lunch as well, so the calories had to be burned :D

I don't usually drink a lot of Coca-Cola, but now I am on vacation, so everything is allowed 😂

Hey @mipiano you are welcome.
Thanks for using @worldmappin 😘

Interesting walk. Nice to share.

With such breathtaking views 12k steps counts as a good steps.

It surely does ;)

I can imagine the tired-but-happy feeling at the end of the day — kinda like when we go on school trips and you just knock out the second you get home

What a wonderful walk and a fantastic day of yours! The photos are beautiful, and it sounds like you had such a fun and engaging time with your colleagues. I can almost feel the atmosphere there!

Hey @mipiano

Thanks for giving us a detailed description of your walk from the walk itself (12k steps), the scenery, the good meal and your special 'pobednica' coke bottle. It is so detailed that it feels like we went on the trip together.

amazing view, the place is so nice, the church looks historical, and the foods, looks delicious.
