Wednesday walk - around the city of Halle

"Any trip is a holiday that will forever remain in your memory" — someone

Hi all!
Today I decided to remember my walk around the city of Halle. I remember that it was very hot and stuffy, but extremely interesting.
Based on my experience, I would like to give you a little advice. It's better to arrive early in the morning or in the evening after 16:00. Or you will have to walk under the scorching sun, and then you will not be able to enjoy the beauty of the fort. You will want to get to the shadow faster.
As it turns out, there are two cities of Halle in the world, one is in eastern Germany, and the other is on the island of Sri Lanka. In Germany, this is a very small town, the name of which translates as “places rich in salt.”
The city we decided to walk through is the third largest city on the island. This translates to "rooster" in Portuguese. The guides say that the shipwrecked Portuguese accidentally discovered this island, where they first heard roosters crowing. Thus they thought that the island was inhabited, and began to shout “Halo-Halo!”
We got to Galle from Unawatuna by tuk-tuk for 500 rupees.
Tuk-Tuk owners are special people; they know alternative mathematics. They interpret geography differently than other inhabitants of the planet.
If you come by bus, the fort will be a few steps away from you, you will see it immediately.

Inside the walls, it became clear to us that this was not a museum, but a full-fledged residential area. Probably every tourist who visited this place met local schoolchildren here.
The fortification of the fortress is typical, as in India and other Dutch colonies.
After passing through the fort area, we came to the Flag Rock bastion. There we saw the most unusual mosque we have ever seen. It looks more like some kind of baroque church.
By the way, from the bastion you can see the Japanese pagoda in Unawatuna.
After that we walked around a little more. I remember trees with roots hanging down.
We then walked to All Saints Anglican Church. Unfortunately it was closed.
We went to the Garden Cafe for lunch, located in a small garden.

After lunch we visited two historical buildings at once.
First, a baroque church, inside of which hung a “crucified” shirt.
Secondly, the clock tower located next to the entrance to the fortress.
Here you can take pictures with sculptures of soldiers in old colonial military uniforms and admire the views from the bastions.

I don’t regret at all that we went to the Galle area. I will say more, those who have not been to Europe much, but have traveled a lot in Asia, will probably like this place much more.
