We are a couple weeks into spring but mother nature decided to give us a little more snow. It is probably a good thing as we seem to be in perpetual drought conditions here in Central Oregon year in and year out.

There was a stiff breeze but that made for some awesome blue skies. 😀
The windy snow storm had left the trees mostly bare but the ground covered with pure white snow.

Living on the east slopes of the Central Oregon Cascade Mountain Range we are blessed with a lot of blue sky because the mountains hold up a lot of the weather that comes in from the Pacific ocean.
Looking west you can see the storm still broiling over the mountains. So while we received a small amount of blowing snow the mountains were gaining nearly 2 feet of much needed snow pack.
Looking east you get a sense of the vast amount of pine forest stretching out to meet the transformation point into high desert.
A closer look at the ground reveals some of the blown snow piled up against an old log.
New spring growth competes with the freshly fallen snow.

A long dead root ball also has its share of spring snow.
And a last look at how the strong winds overnight had blown the snow against these trees.
