15 days ago an Open Day was held at the Comandante Espora Naval Air Base, located in my city (Bahía Blanca). This means that the military base is open to the community and shows not only the activity there, but also the great history of this base, especially after the Malvinas War in 1982.
Hace 15 días se celebró en la Base Aeronaval Comandante Espora, ubicada en mi ciudad (Bahía Blanca) un Open Day. Esto significa que la base militar se abre a la comunidad y se muestra no solo la actividad que allí, sino la gran historia que tiene esta base, especialmente después de la Guerra de Malvinas en el año 1982.
This base played a very important role during the war because it is the southern Argentine base with the largest infrastructure and also because it was used for maintenance and military exercises of the Argentine air force.
Esta base jugó un rol muy importante en durante la guerra por un lado porque es la base del sur argentino con mayor infraestructura y además porque desde aquí se realizaba el mantenimiento y los ejercicios militares de la aviación argentina.
Here, as everywhere else in the world, military bases are handled with great secrecy due to a logical question related to national security. So you can imagine what it means for the whole city that part of the military base can be visited and see much of what is done there and also be able to access much of the history of an event as important as the Malvinas War.
Aquí como en todas partes de mundo bases militares se manejan con gran hermetismo por una cuestión lógica relacionada con la seguridad nacional. Asique se podrán imaginar lo que significa para toda la ciudad que parte de la base militar pueda ser visitada y ver mucho de lo que allí se hace y también poder acceder a gran parte de la historia de un suceso tan importante como significó la Guerra de Malvinas.
Faced with such an event I could not fail to go and much less share with my youngest daughter what I shared so beautifully with my dad on several occasions. My older daughter unfortunately could not accompany me due to other commitments, but surely next year there will be no lack of opportunity.
Ante semejante evento no podía dejar de ir y mucho menos compartir con mi hija más pequeña aquello tan lindo que compartí en varias oportunidades con mi papá. Mi hija mayor lamentablemente por otros compromisos no me pudo acompañar, pero seguramente el año entrante no faltará oportunidad.
Already the entrance to this exhibition was very impressive with the large display of aircraft in the museum where you can see many of the models that had our national aviation, several of which have been involved in the Malvinas war, including the plane that sank the British destroyer gunner Scheffield on 04/05/1982.
In addition to these aircraft in disuse, inside the museum there is a lot of exhibition material that I could visit on another occasion but this time due to the large influx of people we could not enter this time.
Ya la entrada a esta exposición fue muy impactante con la gran muestra de aviones en el museo en el que pueden apreciarse muchos de los modelos que tuvo nuestra aviación nacional, varios de los cuales han intervenido en el conflicto bélico de Malvinas, entre ellos el avión que hundió al artillero destructor británico Scheffield el 04/05/1982.
Además de estos aviones en desuso, en el interior del museo hay muchísimo material de exposición que pude recorrer en otra oportunidad pero en esta ocasión por la gran afluencia de público no pudimos ingresar en esta oportunidad.
Surely in some future opportunity we can take a tour inside the museum and be able to appreciate everything exhibited there.
Let me also tell you that there were many things to see, such as the exhibition of military airplanes in operation, many of which made exhibition flights. I can tell you that the atmosphere there was that of a real party. It was enough to see the little faces of the children when they boarded the airplanes or helicopters; in many cases they were even allowed to put on their helmets and aviation glasses.
Seguramente en alguna futura oportunidad podamos dar una recorrida por el interior del museo y poder apreciar con tranquilidad todo lo allí exhibido.
Igualmente déjenme decirles que había muchas cosas por ver como por ejemplo la exposición de aviones militares en funcionamiento, muchos de los cuales realizaron vuelos de exhibición. Puedo decirles que el clima que se vivió allí fue el de una verdadera fiesta. Solo bastaba ver las caritas de los chicos cuando subían a los aviones o helicópteros; incluso en muchos de los casos también les dejaban colocarse los cascos y lentes de aviación.
As I told you, the exhibition was not only limited to military aircraft, but also members of the aero club of the city were present with an exhibition of several civilian aircraft, in several of which could be made baptism flights. Unfortunately, there were very few flights for so many people, so only a few lucky ones could enjoy a ride through the air.
Como les dije, la muestra no solo se limitó a aviones militares, sino que también estuvieron presentes miembros del aero club de la ciudad con exhibición de varias avionetas civiles, en varias de las cuales podían hacerse vuelos de bautismo. Lamentablemente eran muy pocos vuelos para tanta cantidad de personas por lo que solo unos pocos afortunados pudieron disfrutar de paseo por el aire.
Another of the sectors with which people were entertained for a long time was with different military elements such as armaments, tents, and different vehicles normally used by our army in the patrolling of our borders.
Otro de los sectores con los cuales la gente se entretenía un buen tiempo fue con diferentes elementos de militares como pueden ser los armamentos, tiendas de campaña, y diferentes vehículos que normalmente utilizan nuestro ejercito en el patrullaje de nuestras fronteras.
Undoubtedly, it was a different weekend where the citizens could integrate with part of what our military forces are, learn about their functions, the work they do and the reason for their existence.
I can truly tell you that it was a very nice show to see.
It is also very nice to tour part of the military base and see the style of construction and the neatness of a simply beautiful place.
Personally, it was very nice to enjoy an Open Day again and relive all those memories of my childhood and also to be able to show my little daughter a part of our society that she did not know.
At 5 p.m. the exhibition finally ended and we had no choice but to go to our car to start our way back home. A beautiful afternoon shared outdoors in a different way than usual.

Sin dudas fue un fin de semana distinto donde la ciudadanía pudo integrarse con parte de lo que son nuestras fuerzas militares, conocer sus funciones, los trabajos que realizan y el porqué de su existencia.
Verdaderamente puedo decirles que fue un espectáculo muy lindo de ver.
También es muy lindo recorrer parte de la base militar y ver el estilo de construcciones y la prolijidad de un lugar sencillamente hermoso.
En lo personal fue muy lindo volver a disfrutar de un Open Day y volver a revivir todos aquellos recuerdos de mi niñez y también de poder hacer conocer a mi hija pequeña una parte de nuestra sociedad que no conocía.
A las 17 hs. finalmente terminó la muestra y no quedó más remedio que ir hacia nuestro auto para emprender el regreso a nuestra casa. Una hermosa tarde compartida al aire libre de una manera diferente a la habitual.

Buenas tardes Pablo. Que gran evento y una buena oprtunidad para conocer esta parte del servicio militar que para muchos de nosotros es desconocida. También ver volar a esas avionetas debe ser genial, y conocer una parte de lo que fue la guerra de Malvinas debe ser muy emotivo.

Buenas noches Lau!!! La verdad que es un evento muy lindo que por un lado trae muchos recuerdos lindos y a veces no tan lindos.
Mi papá es veterano de Malvinas (es personal civil y fue a realizar todo lo relacionado con las comunicaciones) y recuerdo todo lo que sufrimos durante el conflicto. En ese entonces tenía 3 años y aún así recuerdo mucho de esos días.
Recuerdo el día que volvió, que lo fuimos a esperar al puerto, fue muy emotivo. Recuerdo ese día a pesar de mi corta edad.
Hoy en día comparto todo lo que puedo con el y se de su gusto por estos eventos. Además cuando nos vinimos a vivir a Bahía Blanca el trabajaba en esa base militar.
Hoy trato de hacer conocer a mis hijas todo lo que puedo para que conozcan una realidad que no está muy a la vista de todo el mundo!!!

Good evening @crazy-bee !!! The 1982 conflict was quite important.
Today only the traces of that conflict that are reflected in all those aircrafts that I showed you in the photos remain on display as a souvenir!
After more than 40 years of democracy we are aware that the way to recover sovereignty over our territory is through dialogue and peace.
