I specifically waited for the end of October and the beginning of cold weather, because by this time wintering birds appear in the forests.

Surprisingly, there is no snow in the city, but there is snow in the forest! And the snow adds a certain zest. It is very beautiful there, everything around is so colorful, yellow, green, brown, and in some places white snow.

As expected, I met these wonderful guys. The bullfinches ate the seeds of the ash-leaved maple.

Of course, there were not many of them, in general they do not happen in large flocks, a few birds are quite sufficient company for them.

The nuthatch, as always, was busy with food supplies, found something edible and tried to hide it in the bark of a tree.

And again I met a squirrel, a real wild one. And you know what? She herself ran up (of course she does not run, but jumps) to me, and was not afraid of me, she was right at my feet. This is amazing for a wild animal! Unfortunately, I did not bring treats for her with me.

I love this place. Here you can always relax by sitting on the fallen trees.

Here come the redpolls. They love big noisy flocks.

Of course, I met long-tailed tits, where without them. These charms are in any forest. I managed to catch the moment when she jumped off the branch.

And who is this wet one? The great tit bathed in the river despite the cold weather.

And here is the river itself.

The eurasian treecreeper is quite difficult to photograph, it is constantly in the shade or merges with the bark of the tree.

I got to one place where a great view opens from the top. But the winds are strong and cold.

And here is the view from the hill. Below is an open area, and there are the remains of ruins. Once upon a time in very old times there was a special forces shooting range.

I was already going home, put the camera in my backpack, just hurried home because I was very tired and cold. And suddenly I heard a large flock of great tits. Nothing out of the ordinary, but among their voices I heard a familiar whistling trill... I haven't heard this trill for four whole years! Yes, it was a azure tit!

This is an extremely rare species of tits. As I said, they have not been in our forest for 4 years. And here they are! I quickly took out the camera, turned on the bluetooth speaker, turned on the voices of these birds so that they flew closer to me. But they did not react, they went about their business.
From the cold, the speaker was discharged and turned off, the battery on the camera also began to blink, indicating that the end was coming soon, I had to pull it out and warm it with my breath in my frozen palms.
I forgot to say that the flock of great tits was huge, and I had to look for each bird to recognize whether it was a great tit or a azure tit. It wasn't easy. And after about 40 minutes, a pair of these desirable birds sat on a bush not far from me. They funny somersaults on the branches, biting the buds and getting something edible out of them.
It was worth it. I am very glad that these birds are back.

That sounds wonderful to see all these different birds plus a friendly squirrel. Too bad no treats. Lovely photos!
Thank you!
What a beautiful place with beautiful fauna! I find the snow so beautiful, maybe because I don't know its true nature because I've never seen it. Wonderful pictures! 🙏🎊😃💥⭐💯
