Today's Wednesday walk is a very popular trail in Sedona- West Fork Canyon Trail

Note: I think this would have been more fun if we were all willing and ready to get wet!
We went on a Friday afternoon and the parking was full at the trail head. There was some parking on the road, which is kinda scary as it is a two curvy, lane mountain road.
Oak Creek Canyon Scenic Drive, from Sedona to Flagstaff is gorgeous!
The cost to park in the lot is $12 per vehicle and we paid $3 per person since we parked on the street. There are bathrooms at the trail head, which was very nice.
I really enjoyed the first part of the trail with the fruit trees, bridge, abandon house and the gorgeous creek.

Mayhew Lodge
According the the plaque the first log cabin was built here in the 1870s in Oak Creek Canyon. The remains your see below are from a lodge that attracted politicians and movie stars to the area.

River Crossings
There are 13 river crossings on the 6.6 mile roundtrip trail. It takes 3-4 hours and we crossed 3 and were only on the trail for 1.5 hours.

I would do this trail again. I would have water shoes and have more time planned for it. It has great potential.

I actually considered Sedona as an option for when we retired, but ended up wanting to be close to the kids and grandkids here
Being close to family is so important. When you come out for a visit let me know, it would be great to meet.

Is it Oak Creek that crosses over the area? I admire your bravery in leading the group through some of the trails. I think it had some challenges although considered easy/moderate. The scenery, especially those canyon walls is stunningly beautiful.
Do you mean to use water shoes just for the crossing? That is a great idea and I never thought of that. I will have to remember to bring a pair. There is nothing worse than wet shoes rubbing on your sore feet. Thanks for that!

Yes, we have some great memories from this hike and the whole trip for sure! Yes, bring water shoes, Teva is a great brand.

It's truly fun hiking in a group..otherwise, it's boring being alone on a trail.. The only exciting part is the adventure itself..
