Wednesday Walk - Prairie Sightings

Here are a few sightings in the prairie for this #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay

Right as I got out of the car the first sighting was a great blue heron flying to its nest.

Now that all the tree leaves have grown in around their nests I can't see them anymore. But I do see them flying to their nest with food for their babies.

Here's another one higher up in the sky flying to the same nesting area.

The heron nests are just behind this horse track area. I finally noticed someone with a horse on this track. He was mostly just trotting it along but did some fast galloping as well.

Nothing like checking your social media while taking the horse for a gallop lol.

The prairie areas are fully grown with cone flowers and all sorts of other weeds. Echinacea is a nice medicinal, I'll have to learn how to harvest and prepare it for tea. I usually just buy the pill supplements but with so much of this stuff growing wild around here I can just get it for free.

The grass seeds are in full bloom as well. Oomph my grass see allergies have been bothering me.

Fortunately the little song sparrows like to eat the grass seeds. They are all over the place in the prairie singing loudly.

The bluebirds are out as well. I'm sure they have all filled up the nest boxes that are placed everywhere in the prairie grasses.

Fortunately this little guy decided to turn around so I could get a good shot of its face.

That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)

What a beautiful property, I love how much nature this place houses dear friend @sketch.and.jam
You have taken some beautiful shots, it is good that the blue bird shared its face with you. Thank you very much for sharing your walk with us.
Have a beautiful morning

I had to make chirping noises at the bluebird to get it to turn around lol.

Nice #wednesdaywalk. Good bluebird shots. I made houses for bluebirds and got wrens 🙁 Its still fun to watch the activity at the nest just don't have beautiful bluebirds around

it seems the bluebirds like larger holes in their bird boxes. I used to make birdhouses as a kid and would always make tiny openings so that only wrens could get into them. Then the gila woodpeckers destroyed the houses lol.

Just love the little song sparrow. Those Grey Herons are like bird versions of 727 passenger liners. rather big wingspan on them...

They are nice and easy to get flying shots because they are so large and fly so slow. The little song sparrows have nice cheery songs throughout the prairie.

a beautiful walk, Love the shots of the b irds especially the heron

I did chuckle about the guy checking his phone while riding the horse

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)

Maybe he was googling how to gallop faster without falling off the horse.

LMAO could well be :)

What beautiful sights you’ve captured. I really love those bluebird photos and all of the greenery. Lol to the photo of the man galloping while checking his phone. Hey, why not if it’s relaxing? 😄

Thanks for sharing your walk with us ~

The bluebirds look great in the light against a green backdrop. Hopefully the guy wasn't watching a tutorial on how to ride a horse on his phone lol.

Hahaha the guy in the horse… hilarious 😂
So funny…
Beautiful captures of the birds. The blue bird is stunning 🤩
Enjoy your day further 👋🏻😁

That's what happens when gas gets too expensive, the commute into the city will soon look like this lol.

Lol… it could well be 😉😎

Beautiful pictures, love the birds.

There were alot out that day, quite a few that I missed. Maybe next time I can get a hawk photo.

A wonderful walk! Birds, grass.. a man with a beard with a smartphone on a horse. It's fun

Who would have ever thought there would be that combination in the wild. Perhaps he was using google maps to steer the horse in the right direction.

😂😂😂
It is likely that nature is not quite wild.
I walk 4 minutes towards the neighboring village and the Internet disappears.

That's when you have to rely on how knowledgeable the horse is on where it is going.

Hi!

Cool walk!
The grass is blooming! My grass started to bloom too. It's time to harvest hay for winter feeding rabbits. The grass is very high in my special area this year, because it rains constantly all through May and June. Now we need sunny weather so that the grass can dry out. But I don't see such days in the weather forecast.

Hopefully too much rain wont ruin the rabbit hay. Too much cold and sudden heat over here ruined the spring mushroom season.

We will probably have a lot of mushrooms this year. Mom collects them every day in a small forest. They even grow under my apple trees in the garden!

That's how the summer chanterelles are around here. It seems the spring morel season just didn't happen this year.

I'm not an expert on spring morels at all. But mom said she saw 2 morels next to apple trees in the garden. But she didn't tell me about it right away.
