Wednesday Walk - Rock Formations

These mountains can be seem from a distance and look quite interesting. Once you get close to them by driving through a bunch of gate codes and sidewinding dirt roads they look even more interesting. This one looks like a bunch of overlapping hands to me.Here is a hot desert hike in the Dragoon Mountains for this #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay

We brought a cow dog mix with us to run around looking for snakes and javelina.

He had a blast trying to keep us hikers rounded up. To him we are his cattle.

I noticed a little spec on one of the larger rock faces. It turns out there was a climbing event going on that day.

Here you can get a sense of scale. These mountains aren't too tall but the stones are quite large, perfect for rock climbing.

Do you see the kissing rocks towards the lower left of the middle?

Someone took their brontosaurus out for a walk and didn't pick up afterwards...

This one is obviously an elephant with its ears out with a bunch of humans in from towing him in their procession over the Alps.

This is a strange fat buddha yelling up at the sky.

I suspect these pock marks in the side of the rock were made by Apache's. Nearby there were also some grinding holes for corn and mesquite beans. I have a few petroglyphs for another post as well.

My favorite rock formation from when I was a kid hiking this area. This is obviously a great white shark about to bite a swimmer from below.

That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)

What a beautiful landscape. I hope I will travel around more than I do now and visit places like this one some day this year or the next.

This desert environment would be a drastic change compared to living by the sea. It seems like living on Mars out in Arizona compared to where I live now.

Sounds great. 😀 A space adventure here on Earth!

Only place even more surreal is white sands new mexico, just white sand for miles and miles. Not too much fun for a long stay but interesting as a rest stop.

Dang, those rock formations do resemble everything you described. Whomever was climbing that rock face was brave. The dog looks like he was having the time of his life on your walkabout.

I'm sure the dog really wanted to catch a rabbit. Sadly the rabbits were too fast for him.

Your dog looks alert and ready to protect heheh... These rock formations look unique, indeed perfect for rock climbing. Somehow I can form the image of a face pointing upwards. The great white shark formation is the scariest of them all LoL

He was quite busy hunting for things while multitasking herding us into one group. The shark just needs some sharp pebbles added to it to form teeth.
