It started with the fact that I missed the train. Actually I live not very far from the station, about 2 kilometers, and this distance is not difficult to overcome on foot. But the snowfall combined with the thaw made this route as inconvenient as possible for walking. Instead of walking, I took the bus. I assumed I would arrive at the train station too early. But I worried about that for nothing! I arrived right on time, to the minute - I mean, there was not a single extra minute to buy a ticket and get on the train.
I was going to visit my mom that day. My mother lives near the railway station in one of the outskirts of the city, and the electric train is the most convenient means of transportation. Alternatively, you can take the subway and buses, but I like the train more - it's faster and more comfortable. But suburban trains run much less frequently than subway trains, and I had to find something to do for the next 40 minutes.
I didn't want to walk along the city streets, where the pure white snow had turned into a dirty snowy mess under the feet of passers-by. I remembered that I had read in the news that the ice rink had started its work on the site near the station, and I decided to go to see the rink. The snowplow had done a good job on this route, so I didn't encounter any difficulties.
The route to the ice rink starts near the monument to Prince Mikhail Khilkov, Minister of Railways of the Russian Empire, who was engaged in the development of the railroad network at the turn of the XIX and XX centuries. This is a new monument, it was installed about a year ago. The monument is located a bit away from the main passenger traffic, and I had not seen this monument before, although I visit the station quite often. Next I had to go around the Railway Transport Museum. In front of the entrance to the museum there is a steam locomotive SO17-2286. The "SO" series stands for Sergo Ordzhonikidze. This is a Soviet mainline freight steam locomotive.
Next I had to walk along the fence made of mesh. The sections of the fence have funny figures with pointer arrows, so I wasn't afraid to get lost. The rink itself didn't impress me much. It looks small compared to other city skating rinks. Near the rink I saw "skater's assistants", but all of them are small and designed only for children. So, you can't invite your friends, who are not very good at skating, to skate on this rink.
I looked at my watch and turned back - there was just enough time left to get to the station and board the train without too much haste. I took advantage of the fact that I was one of the first to board and took a picture of the train carriage without passengers.
By evening the weather had improved, and the colors of the sunset began to show through the gray clouds. My mom suggested a little walk in the park. Living on the outskirts of the city has not only disadvantages, but also serious advantages - one of them is large parks within walking distance. You don't have to plan a walk and drive somewhere, you can just leave the house and walk until you get bored.

How are you dear friend @tatdt good afternoon
That is the advantage of having plenty of time, while you were waiting for the train to leave you were able to capture these beautiful shots of the surrounding areas
I loved the walk that your mother proposed, the park she has makes her a privileged person, not everyone has so much natural beauty available to walk
What beautiful photographs, I appreciate that you let us know about this Wednesday walking experience.
have a splendid afternoon
Thank you very much, dear friend @jlufer! I'm really glad you enjoyed this walk!
Have a great week!
Friend, your walks are always very interesting, nice places and what to say about your pictures. It was worth waiting for the next train. It's good that you went to visit your mother. I'm sure it was a very happy day for you. My best regards.🥰❄️
You are quite right my dear friend @mamani, it was a happy day, thank you very much!
Didn't hear about this monument before.
Walk for 2km after strong snowfall can become big trick. This winter they become often guests in our country also like a frost. 😉
This year it's such a winter that walking at least 100 meters can be difficult sometimes:) Thank you!

-Pleased to meet you Prince Mikhail Khilkov, you are very handsome! I told him that as soon as I saw him. hahahaha....
Trains are more charming for travelling, aren't they?
And the snowman... very nice: nice to meet you too.
As you didn't name him I'll call him prince Nebo. Is that a carrot on his nose?
Yes, it is! On the train, you can sit by the window and watch the trees flicker by and the sunset slowly light up near the horizon. You won't see that on the subway:))))))
Yes, it's a carrot - it's the carrot that is the perfect nose for a snowman!
Thank you so much!
😁 Nice walk
