Why is she behind the chair and not on it?

¿Por qué está tras el mueble y no sobre él?

If she were on the chair, we could imagine that, once the light was turned off, the girl might fall asleep. But in that position, behind the furniture, what do you think will happen once she turn off the light?

Si ella estuviese sobre el mueble, podríamos imaginar que, una vez apagada la luz, la chica puede que se quede dormida, pero en esa posición, estando detrás de el mueble, ¿qué creen que sucederá una vez que apague la luz?

A sharp increase in COVID19 is taking place in my city, so the relaxation of the quarantine has been postponed, and once again we are experiencing a totally restricted quarantine. It is like having gained a little space of sunlight and air and having lost it.

En mi ciudad se está viviendo un incremento brusco de COVID19, por lo que la flexibilización de la cuarentena ha sido postergada, y de nuevo vivimos una cuarentena totalmente restringida.Es como haber ganado un poco espacio de luz solar y de aire y espacio y haberlo perdido.

This illustration is born from the feeling of wanting to turn off the light and wait for the new day to come, and thus new hopes come.

Esta ilustración nace de la sensación de querer apagar la luz y esperar a que el día nuevo llegue, y así lleguen nuevas esperanzas.

The process | El proceso

Believe it or not, yesterday I tried 3 illustrations with specific concepts, but for some reason the results were never what I wanted. So I just decided to put it aside and get to work on design assignments.

Aunque no lo crean, el día de ayer hice el intente hacer 3 ilustraciones con conceptos específicos, pero por alguna razón los resultados nunca fueron lo que quería. Asi que simplemente decidí dejarlo a un lado y ponerme a trabajar en encargos de diseño.

But I cannot go to bed without having made an illustration or a drawing that does not respond to work. Something to learn, to study or to express what I think (and feel). So I decided to draw this woman, so different from me physically, abysmally different. But also in confinement; so we look a bit alike after all.

Pero no puedo acostarme sin haber hecho una ilustración o un dibujo que no responda a trabajo. Algo para aprender, para estudiar o para expresar. Así que decidí dibujar a esta mujer, tan diferente a mi fisicamente, abismalmente diferente. Pero también en confinamiento; así que nos parecemos un poco después de todo.

Step by step | Paso a paso

From the lines to the color a long time passed. Choosing the palette was quite a challenge. I suppose that yesterday things could not happen so smoothly.

Desde las lineas al color pasó un rato largo. Elegir la paleta fue todo un desafío. supongo que ayer las cosas no podían darse tan fluidamente.

When I finally had it, I applied the shadows, this time exercising what we know but sometimes overlook: the light reflecting off the shadow area and the most saturated area between light and shadow.

Cuando finalmente lo tuve, apliqué las sombras, esta vez ejercitando aquello que sabemos pero a veces pasamos por alto: la luz que se refleja en el área de las sombras y lazona más saturada entre luz y sombra.

Don't worry, I'll fix that ugly shadow of the couch later.

No se preocupen, corregiré esa fea sombra en el sofá luego.

It was time to correct the ugly shadow !!! And i did it. I liked the result.

Ya era hora de corregir la sombra fea!!! y lo logré. Me gustó el resultado.

Sometimes people think that doing illustrations in a comic style is very simple, but in reality it usually takes a little longer than the traditional style.

A veces la gente piensa que hacer ilustraciones con estilo cómic es algo muy sencillo, pero en realidad suele tomarme un poco más de tiempo que el estilo tradicional.
