Otra hermosa pintura dedicada para esos momentos de frustración, la inspiración llegó durante esos apagones nacionales que nos dejaron sin mucho durante media semana...
Here in the new episode of "Surviving" we will visit a Venezuelan city... okay better not. I became very frustrated but also moved by ideas, ideas that moved me to form this painting.
I hoped to tell a story with this image, to reduce in a single illustration what would be a feeling; of overcoming, strength and determination to continue standing and bringing light. I believe it's a concept that many would come to feel related; even more so in the chaotic Venezuelan environment.
Aquí en el nuevo de episodio de "Sobreviví" visitaremos una ciudad venezolana... okay mejor no. Me llegué a sentir muy frustrada pero también movida por ideas, ideas que me movieron a formar esta pintura.
Esperaba contar una historia con esta imagen, reducir en una sola ilustración lo que seria un sentimiento; de superación, fuerza y determinación para continuar en pie t trayendo luz. Creo que un sentimiento que muchos llegarian a sentirse relacionados; mas aun ante el ambiente caótico Venezolano.
Proceso/Process:
The lineart made me fall in love; although my idea was to form a more youthful figure this last design also achieved the essence.
El lineart me enamoro; aunque mi idea era formar a una figura más juvenil este último diseño lograba también la esencia.
For this painting I chose to work both with the colors directly and the use of greys. Reason: learning... plus the blackouts that were still there... (thank you our lord for teaching us such valuable things as the instinct to overcome moments of great frustration, please for mother Teresa that heaven be worth it :')).
Para esta pintura escogí trabajar tanto con los colores directamente como el uso de los grises. Razón: el aprendizaje... más los apagones que aún había... (gracias nuestro señor por enseñarnos cosas tan valiosas como el instinto de superación ante momentos de mucha frustración, por favor por la madre teresa que el cielo valga la pena :')).
I decided to work directly in color with the candled woman because it was not so difficult; for the candles the story was going to be different. If they are seen in one rare shade, it is because they are degraded to some shade (thanks to the gradient map) before the color is applied, so the colors don't look so dirty.
La mujer lo decidí trabajar en color directamente por no ser un objeto tan difícil de tratar; para las velas las historia iba a ser diferente. Si se ven en la siquiera de una tonalidad rara es que llega a degradarlas a algún tono (gracias mapa de gradientes) antes de colocarles el color, así no se ven tan sucios los colores.
Another key to the lights is the use of the "Color Dodge" filter; with a moderate opacity is perfect to make any object shine.
Otra clave para las luces es el uso del filtro de "Color Dodge", esté colocado en una opacidad moderada es perfecto para hacer que cualquier objeto brille.

Gah those blackouts sound like such a pain in the system. The artwork is lovely though, I particularly like the light on the candle :)
