This time I bring my latest work and it is a Japanese sword, the famous Katana used by ancient samurai warriors. I have always been a strong follower of manga and anime based on the ancient history of Japan, always full of mystery, symbols and great lessons of honor and loyalty. The Japanese sword recognized as one of the best in the world represents the soul of ancient Japan and it has much to teach. I hope you like my design and let me know in your comments.
Hola amigos de hive espero que esten muy bien. Saludos para todos los amigos artistas en todos las comunidades que nos dejan impresionados con sus diseños. en esta ocacion traigo mi ultimo trabajo y se trata de una espada japonesa, la famosa Katana usada por los antiguos guerreros samurais. Siempre he sido fien seguidor de los mangas y animes basados en la historia antigua de Japón, siempre llena de misterio, símbolos y grandes lecciones de honor y lealtad. La espada japonesa reconocida como una de las mejores del mundo representa el alma del Japón antiguo y que tiene mucho para enseñar. Espero les guste mi diseño y me lo hagan saber en sus comentarios.
The first step of all is to make the blade of the sword, for this we look for a can that has a chrome color for the most part. The chrome color will help us a lot in the brightness of the sword and when making the edge it can be seen in a better way.We cut two faces to make the blade of the sword.
El primer paso de todos es hacer la hoja de la espada, para ello buscamos una lata que tenga color cromado en su mayoria. El color cromado nos ayudara mucho en el brillo de la espada y a la hora de hacerle el filo podra verse de una mejor manera Cortamos dos caras para hacer la hoja de la espada.
Then with a pen without ink we mark on the inner side of the side a line that divides the blade and follows the curvature of the sword. We highlight it with force in this way on the outside you will see the edge that we have made with this division. Then with another pattern of the blade of the sword we cut a cardboard which will go in the middle of both sides, we do this to give the blade hardness. Then when we have glued both sides with sandpaper we will sharpen the lower part of the blade of the sword and thus we will achieve the finish we want.
Luego con un lapicero sin tinta marcamos por el lado interno de la lada una linea que divida la hoja y que siga la curvatura de la espada. La remarcamos con fuerza de esta manera por el lado exterior se vera el filo que hemos hecho con esta division. Luego con otro patron de la hoja de la espada recortamos una cartulina la cual ira en medio de ambas caras, esto lo hacemos para darle dureza a la hoja. Luego cuando hayamos pegado ambas caras con una lija sacaremos filo a la parte inferior de la hoja de la espada y asi lograremos el acabado que queramos.
The next step is to make the handle of the sword. I selected a small piece of bamboo that are usually the best to make these figures. As the piece I cut was from the ends of the bamboo, it came inside covered. So with a pointed object I was removing its internal part until it left an opening for the base of the sword blade to enter. Then with a permanent ink marker I painted it black.
El siguiente paso es hacer el mango de la espada. Yo seleccioné un pequeño trozo de bambú que suelen ser los mejores para hacer estas figuras. Como el pedazo que corte era de los extremos del bambú este venia por dentro cubierto. Asi que con un objeto puntiagudo fui removiendo su parte interna hasta dejarle una abertura para que entrara la base de la hoja de la espada. Despues con un marcador de tinta permanente lo pinté de color negro.
The third step was to make the sword sheath. For that I also took a piece of bamboo but it had a curvature like the blade of a sword. I went through the same process of removing everything from the inside so that the sword enters without problems. I also painted it black.
El tercer paso fue hacer la funda de la espada. Para eso tomé tambien un trozo de bambú pero que tuviera una curvatura como la hoja de la espada. Realicé el mismo proceso de sacarle todo por dentro para que la espada entre sin problemas. Tambien la pinte de color negro.
Then he proceeded to make the bases where the sword and the sheath are placed. I made it first by cutting a few small pieces of wood for the bottom base. To hold the sword and the holster I used two pieces of 5 centimeter bamboo. Then I cut two small arms to hold the sheath since the sword will go on top of the bamboo.
Despues procedi a hacer las bases donde van colocadas la espada y la funda. La hice primero cortando unas pequeños retazos de madera para la base inferior. Para sosterner la espada y la funa usé dos partes de bambú de 5 centimetros. Luego corté des pequeños brazitos para que sostenga la funda ya quue la espada irá encima del bambú.
This is how my work looked at 80% of the construction process, it is that part of the work where you feel happy with what you are doing.
Asi se veía mi trabajo en un 80% del proceso de construcción, es aquellña parte del trabajo donde te sientes contento por lo que estas haciendo.
For the base I decided to engrave in the lower part 4 of the precepts of the samurai code. The first one is JIN: it means Benevolence. The second is MAKOTO: it means Honesty. The third is Yu: it means Courage and the fourth is Rei and it means Respect.
Then I covered it with a layer of clear varnish to give it shine and protection.
Para la base decidí grabar en la parte inferior 4 de los preceptos del código samurai. La primera de ellas es JIN: significa Benevolencia. La segunda es MAKOTO: significa Honestidad. La tercera es Yu:significa Coraje y la cuarta es Rei y significa Respeto.
Luego la cubri con una capa de barniz transparente para darle brillo y protección.
The final details include making the braid on the magician which is very characteristic of Japanese swords. For that I took a burgundy thread. Then I painted the funa black, I put protective varnish on it and lastly, two metal rings that I later painted gold.
Los detalles finales incluyen hacer la trenza en el mago que es muy caracteristicas de las espadas japonesas. Para eso tome un hilo de color vinotinto. Luego pinté la funa de color negro, le puse barniz protector y de ultimo dos anillos de metal que luego los pinté de color dorado.
This has been all my work. I spent almost four days working on this sword. I saw many models and videos of authentic Japanese craftsmen building real swords and see that it is an almost religious process. It is certainly something that impacted me a lot and I confess that I learned many new and good things. I hope you liked it and left me a comment letting me know. Este ha sido todo mi trabajo. Estuve casi cuatro dias trabajando en esta espada. Vi muchos modelos y videos de autenticos artesanos japoneses cosntruyendo espadas reales y ver que es un proceso casi religioso. Ciertamente es algo que me impactó mucho y confieso que aprendí muchas cosas nueva sy buenas. Espero que les haya gustado y me dejn un comentario haciendomelo saber.
