Happy end of the week! :D
Today's drawing started off as a sketch, then got digitally colored after an inspiration strike, hehe.
Here's Jaiden Eldritch, sweet but a fed up boy!
I've always been bad with drawing males. I was one of those girls who grew up with magical girl anime and started drawing with those, so drawing females got stuck with me. But I have male characters too, such as Jaiden boy over here. I've never managed to portray them as I see them in my mind. I occasionally try, and this was one of those experiments! Once I've done the sketch on my sketchbook, I liked it so much I wanted to color it a little on Photoshop... And ended up with this, hehe.
Progress
As I said, everything started with a sketch.
Then I started playing around with it on Photoshop. Keeping the sketch layer at the bottom, I slightly tinted the sketch with an Overlay layer over it, then started throwing the solid colors on top with a Multiply layer.
After I was happy with the colors, I locked the multiply layer and threw on some shadows. I wasn't planning to fully paint this, so I didn't plan ahead like putting on separate layers for lights an shadows. I just picked the colors and painted them on.
After this point I just... Couldn't help myself. I kept on going, threw on more layers for overpainting. Added more lights, more shadows, details like his freckles and his beard...
And like that, my boy was finalized. This is the closes visual representation of him I've done so far. Maybe I'll get better with drawing male characters at some point but I know I'm better than before and it sure feels good :D
I hope you liked it! I'm pretty happy with this one. I have a bunch of doodles of him, both at a younger age and older age. Not all are presentation good :D Anyways, I'm kind of proud to have shared this with you.
