Creating A New Avatar And First Finished Piece In Over A Year

in OnChainArt5 years ago

In 2016/2017 I did something I had planned to do for years but never quite got to.

*I studied art.

Not in terms of following one or two tutorials for a week and then quitting for six months. I actually studied art holistically for a year.

I made some major improvements with my art and when I crossed the year mark, I got into college and found myself not having time to draw.

I got into digital art in 2018 but I wasn't consistent with it, because of my schooling.

2019 passed without much happening on the art front and then,... the Covid-19 pandemic hit and I found myself on emergency holiday.

It's 2020 and now I'm back to doing some art.

I made that piece as a sort of logo/profile pic/avatar. It was fun creating it, putting it through various iterations before getting to that.

Tools

  • Autodesk Sketchbook

  • An old busted Tecno M3

  • My imagination and some creativity

Progress Pics

Did this initially in Infinite Design. Had issues with the app so I couldn't finish it

Moved to Autodesk Sketchbook and decided to make it less cartoony

Initial finished piece. Later on I thought I'd be cool to colour the face.

Applied colour to the face. Wasn't really vibing the brown eyes so I changed them to the blue you see in the final image.

I used the piece for my introduction post

Thanks.

I've been an on and off artist but now I'm trying to stay consistent.
