My MoM

Sometimes one small detail in a drawing decides whether someone is similar or not. Unfortunately, we are often so absorbed by the activity of drawing that we cannot find the distance to see the detail.
This is my Mother. I was drawing her and it seemed to be okay, but something didn't suit me. I didn't know what. And I probably would've published the drawing anyway, you don't know what she looks like.
Fortunately, my husband (whom I wouldn't say is a good observer), looked at the sketch and said right away. The left eye is too low. Shit, indeed... I erased it and drew it higher. It's okay. It's my Mom.

While I draw, I take some pictures. Not just because somebody often asked me to show you the stages, but because the picture shows the truth. It's objective, unlike our brain. The picture shows better what needs to be changed, where to give a darker accent and so on. We look at the picture like it's finished.

This time taking pictures in progress allowed me to show you how much difference it made to draw one eye higher. Take a look.
