I was very fortunate last year one of my collectors gave me two painting commissions. The previous post, Golden Light 2.5 and this one.
"Burning Desire II", 50 x 70cm, oil on canvas
As you can see, I start the painting off in my typical manner with a relational grid, and then marking in the outlines with thinned oil paint.
Then comes the block in.
I'm working with a limited palette for this painting. I mostly use earth colours (browns) and then a couple of saturated colours such as cadmium red and cadmium yellow. As Cadmium is a heavy metal, I'm always mindful of not making any skin contact.
The original painting was in landscape format, but the collector and I agreed that the image would be more impactful if it focused on the figure, and hence the portrait format was chosen.
In this photo above the painting is close to finish.
Once I've sent photos to the collector and they're happy with the final results, it's time to pack the painting to be shipped to it's new home. Shipping within Europe is straight forward as I use GLS. They've been consistently reliable and cost effective and far better than the post.
How I pack the artwork, probably warrants it's own post.

Thank you!
My first thought was that doesn't look like a particularly pleasant state to be in.
Second thought was that's actually pretty accurate XD
