Castle Sphere

Began as a non-thinking exercise, a blob, a bubble on water and a bit of colour. But as always, out of the "stain" come a lot of images. And they didn't stop, and didn't keep still, and so it all started turning around and dimensions collided. I loved doing this one, and I'm sure there are more to come on this line.

2020. Watercolour on 300grs paper.

When I started with my towers, I realised it would be difficult to stop. There's something quite intriguing in the simple shapes, the illusions, the creeping up and just the endless possibilities.

Windows and stairs
Clouds and skies
Twisting and turning
The towers arise

What I also loved here is that, if you want it, it can never stop. The shapes keep on mutating and changing into another, siamese buildings, ghostly structures, and some that leave you thinking if they are actually there...
Magic things happen with watercolour, the water guides things in different and unplanned ways, the pigment can appear to be independent of your own will, and how the paper reacts can bring forth unexpected results. Nothing is ever wrong.
