This is an old sketch I think from 2016. It was in the very first post I did on Steem where I was introducing myself and my work. I DID NOT KNOW WHAT I WAS GETTING INTO, haha. I couldn't have imagined that this place would become such a huge part of my life and thinking about all the time and energy I've poured into this place, when I thought about it all just ending and becoming some centralized cesspool, this illustration is a good visualization of what that felt like.
So glad we landed on our feet at then end of everything and I'm excited to see where things go from here. When I originally shared this I didn't share the process so here's a little something new.
During the time I created this I was challenging myself to do a sketch a day, and this was one of the days sketches. I'd usually sit with a clipboard of paper and doodle thumbnails until I found something I liked, then scan it in and start painting on top. My process has changed a lot since then, and I hope to have enough bandwidth(ever?) again to be able to do this. These days I've got two little guys that demand a lot of attention running around and using me as their personal jungle gym, so it's a bit harder to focus :p

I congratulate you if you can still work despite having 2 kids. i have a little girl unfortunately, it doesn't even allow me to read a book. books, pens or even cameras. wants to have everything. I'm just interested in it. and finally I have 1 hour or 2 hours left in the evening. then I don't know what to begin with. this is a great drawing. great composition and technique. Congrats dear friend

I don't think too many of us knew what we were getting into when we started XD
If anyone is telling you that you'll have more time when the kids are older don't believe them. I haven't found that to be the case yet XD

As they get older you don't have to specifically entertain them (or keep such a close eye on them in the case of mine as they learned how to entertain themselves and/or play nicely together early on) but then they start having friends and doing stuff and you end up having to drive them around and probably sit in on whatever it is they're doing either because going home/somewhere else while they're doing their thing isn't worth it or you just want to cheer them on and it ends up being about as much time as you spent minding them when they were babies, just different XD
Enjoy the baby time while they still love you ;D
They will still love you when they're big, despite them screaming about how much they hate you when they're angry teenagers who are quite positive they know absolutely everything there is to know about everything and you're just an old irrelevant control freak fart stopping them from doing what they want for no other reason than a power trip xD

I love looking back to my old posts.. I tend to be a bit more wordy now, then I was then. It really took a bit of time to figure out a good balance. Not sure I still know what that is yet.. haha. What it took to get peoples attention, what they wanted to see or read, and what made me feel good about my content. I can say now that I enjoy my own content and that makes me feel satisfied. You have two little ones?!! sweet! enjoy them. I can only imagine how much time they require of you and no clue how you find the time for this fluff. For what it's worth, thanks for sticking around and making this place a bit brighter!! 😁
Is that painting dark to begin with or is it the way the photo came out? I like the dark cave like look. I hope it's not a fire breathing dragon!! 😲
