Ecstasy in Shadows -A Charcoal Drawing

Hello everyone...👋🏾 🤗

Today, I made a charcoal drawing that explores what it means to feel without words, titled Ecstasy in Shadows.

I think the name captures what I was trying to express—an intense, sensual moment suspended between light and dark. Rather than focusing on a face, I focused on the body—the way light falls across the skin and how shadows convey emotion, intimacy and stillness.

For materials, I used a 2B graphite pencil for the initial sketch, Marie’s soft charcoal pencil to build deep shadows and a Tombow Mono Zero eraser for highlights. I also used a blending stump in some areas to create soft transitions.

Here’s a progress shot showing the background in development.
